Will a legal hub benefit from more amps?

You are probably running into the speed limit of the hub winding. Next step is to go to 52v. Be very careful with increasing the Amps, you will make more heat but not more speed. I wouldn't go over 16-17 Amps x 48v with a small motor.

    Battery layout.

My strategy would be: If you use this https://eu.nkon.nl/accessories/battery-solder-strip/1-meter-nikkel-batterijsoldeerstrip-25-5mm-0-15mm.html S11 you cut off one side on your parallel strip leaving tabs. Solder heavy gauge copper wire to the tabs and run the copper wire up to S12 where it is...

    Going up hills?

I have a 250 W motor that peaks at 715 W (controller) so about 570 W at the wheel. With that power I have to control keeping the front wheel on the ground if I give it some welly. If you don't mind being outside the law a 500 or 750 W crank drive is all you would ever need on the road. If you...

    Hi from the Bearing Man

I am looking at a cargo trike and I don't want the motor supplied so it would be removed from a brand new bike, battery in delivered storage voltages state with zero charges on the clock etc etc. I do want a 48v Bafang with PAS, not a torque sensor, double chainwheel and a 1.5-2 kW battery...

    Advice on converting recumbent trike

You could put a tiny chainwheel on too which would keep top speed below 15 km/h. From the web site: The recumbent style and pedal forward concept is noted for speed, partly due to the improved aerodynamics of having your legs in front of you, which allows for extra ease with pedalling and...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Not brexit but related: From the country which couldn't respect EU air pollution norms and which gets fined a new UK designed air pollution norm "which will go much further than the EU one" promised for after brexit. So the EU clean air norm wasn't worth following because the UK were busy...

Bafang BBS02 axle gearing lost its bite..

You are thinking about the BBS02 redesign perhaps? https://electricbike-blog.com/2016/07/12/bafang-completely-redesigns-the-bbs02-and-tells-no-one/ From memory the 01 and 01b casing is slightly different, the controller got better FETs and there is a wire with 6v for the lighting.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Car sharing is very common in the Gers and the Landes, when I lived there my commute was 62 km one way so you can see why. There is an association here called the Castors (Beaver in English) which you join if you want to build your own house. You get to use all that gear plus substantial...
