Need a bit of a lift?

Saw this in Trondheim. It is on a hill around/going up to the university area. Of course all the students didn't seem to want to use it i assume it dented their street cred.;)

    Gidday from The Cycle Tourist

Just read Mark Beaumont's 'Man who Cycled the World' about his record breaking 18,236 miles in 195 days (just under 7 months). That was quite gruelling, his riding that is, not my reading about it :). The Steve Abrahams ride looks particularly challenging, and as you say on a push bike. The...

Good warranty service from 50 Cycles.

Great friendly service, deal and chat from Charles at the Shoreham branch. Tried all the interesting models he had in. Well worth the diversion in a trip back to Bournemouth from Norfolk recently. Also managed to slip in a ride to Brighton on our bikes before heading home. On the subject of...

Changing headset on Kalkhoff Pro Connect

Hi tillson, Great pictures and a really great job you've done. Sure looks like a really well cared for bike given the mileage etc. do you commute in all weathers?, if so even more remarkable. My ProConnect is same vintage, but only 9,000 miles 'on the clock (put the rest of mileage (5000m on my...

    Just for a laugh...

Castrol R. Now there's a great smell. Never minded a bit of oil seeping past the piston rings and burning on my Norton 600S (four stroker) so I could just enjoy that smell.

Changing headset on Kalkhoff Pro Connect

Hi tillson. Didn't have to replace headset in the end as a slight slackening of the headset stopped the indexing. I did get the headset that James C suggested from China (good sevice) and it's waiting in the shed until needed. Best wishes. Mike

    Slow oncoming cyclists

You've started me thinking of other ways to read the sign.... Perhaps it could also be a warning that there are likely to some 'none to bright' (slow) cyclists ahead that may explain why they are 'oncoming':)

    Slow oncoming cyclists

Spotted on the IoW. No punctuation, so expect some very slow cyclists coming contra-flow :):) Obviously not e-bikers or Lycra clad

    Another Aldi Cycle Gear Day

Looked at the ALDI app and there's quite a range of lothing which is what we are looking for. Generally, found ALDI cycling clothing better quality than LIDL.

    Powabyke euro question

Hi electric mike What's not working on your current switch? Is the 'fault' in the two sensor wires or the main power wires? I have an old powabyke ignition switch that has three sensor wires (green, yellow and blue) - no connector on the end - I just cut the ends off when gutting an old euro...

    E-bikes and rain

Hi all. The handlebar controller on my wife's Kalkoff ProConnect (2008 and now done over 10,000 miles) hasn't liked getting wet for about the last year. It ceases to work at all. No lights show on power or mode buttons when water gets into the switch. It's OK when it dries out, so we taken to...

Changing headset on Kalkhoff Pro Connect

Thanks James, excellent. A couple of piccies etc is always very reassuring, and gives me a bit of confidence. Last time I did it was when ball bearings used to spill all over the floor!

Changing headset on Kalkhoff Pro Connect

Thanks d8veh for a really helpful reply. Will now be able to have a go. I was a bit surprised why the indexing occurred, we never ride in bad weather, we can get wet but not the bikes! She's probably been bouncing over too many potholes! Thanks again.

Changing headset on Kalkhoff Pro Connect

My wife's step through Pro Connect (2008) has developed 'indexing' of the headset after some 9,000 miles, such that there is a subtle resistance/preference to fix the steering at straight ahead. I assume to fix it, it will need new cartridge headset bearings. My question is does anyone have...

Problem with Kalkhoff ProConnect handlebar display

Hi My handlebar controller on a 2010 Kalkhoff ProConnect S had recently developed a fault. The full capacity battery indicator light blinks/goes out intermittently (e.g. When turning handlebars and flexing the cable harness) when the battery has a full charge. I've think the fault lies with a...

    bike mirrors

Forget Winkku. I had them a couple of years ago on both my and my wife's bike Useless! would also break off. They are just too heavy with the batteries in, rattle and the contacts are prone to the vibration of bumpy roads. they are just a gimmick. I use Zefal cyclop bar end mirrors on both...
