Mizanur Rahman death: Coroner calls for e-bike battery standards

I'm surprised chargers which automatically recognise battery voltage, BMS continuity etc are not widely available. All the chargers (Some quite ancient) I use for my toy planes have this facility and confirm pack voltage and balance connection status before charging. Any cell over volt etc...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

I guess the "Trolly Bus", phased out eons ago doesn't seem such a bad idea now for city wide transport. Better than the current crop of E-Buses charged by diesel generators... TTFN John.

End of season solar trailer tour

Fabulous, an area I know well having stayed in Drummore many times and cycled off to Port Logan, Mull of Galloway, Ardwell bay etc. (Bloody steep hill up to the Mull, but it has a great cafe as a reward). Looks like your campsite was above East Tarbet? TTFN John.

    BBC and battery regulation

I wonder if at least a proportion of these might be caused by owners using 48v chargers on 36v systems (Or 54v on 48v etc). Many appear to be kits and parts possibly bought from many different sources. TTFN John.

    Ultimate bike camper?

Just a question to satisfy my curiosity... Having seen a number of posts referring to towing a trailer. Rather than wondering about the power available for towing heavy loads up hills do you encounter any problems with steeper descents? Do standard cycle brakes cope without any issues? I...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

A lot of the construction is Balsa Wood. (Another pet peeve of mine). The price of building my toy planes has gone through the roof. But they are not recyclable due to the Carbon fibre and other non degradable chemicals and substances used during manufacturing. TTFN John.

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Unfortunately yes. The loss of habitat and indigenous wildlife has been immense. The last real stronghold of the Scottish Wildcat where it hasn't been diluted by feral domestic moggies in Clashindarroch forest is currently under real threat due to a planned wind farm proposed by a...

    VanMoof gone bust

The way everything is going (App, Siri, Alexa, smart TV voice control etc). The youth of today will never understand the pain of having to trudge through 12 feet of shag pile carpet in the 70's to change the TV channel. TTFN John.

    Nasty pothole

I have to admit to being confused as to why there doesn't seem to be enough tarmac to fill the potholes but plenty is available to build speed humps. Enquiring minds need to know. TTFN John.

Aldi bike stand £29.99 Thurs 20th April

The problem I found with doing that when I transferred to E-Bikes was having fo remember to fold the display out of the way to prevent it being damaged if contacting the ground. I have a bike stand but more often than not I use these...

Wisper Onto my 5th e-bike now

Not sacrilege at all Flecc, my late wife and I used take our bikes on holiday and cycle everywhere (Full days out with beer/wine and a packed lunch). Nowadays I still do the same but none of it would be possible without my beloved E-Bikes. I'm probably travelling further than we used to and my...

    Train E-bike ban

Although they do quote a maximum weight of 25kg and "Fatbikes" are not allowed due to their 2.5" tyre width restriction which is a shame as I was planning a few days cycling out and back from Corrour Station House and have a "Fatbike" specifically due to the terrain I hoped to ride across. I...

Google maps alternative for multi-hop routes

Not sure if t would fit your needs but I use "Komoot". I used to use "Viewranger" which I really liked until it was absorbed into "OutdoorActive" which while it has some really nice features, I felt it tries to be all things. Hiking, Running, Biking etc without satisfactorily achieving any of...

E-scooters 'are five times safer than bikes' - Study by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

Countryside riders targeted by bike thieves amid record lows in police detection rates

Pressurised lighter refill containers work well. Just fit a generic spray can head (WD40 etc) to it. A bit like having your own Napalm dispenser. :) TTFN John.

    suitable wing mirrors

I can't help feeling with all the other steps you have taken to be visible indicators probably wouldn't even be seen by motorists. Have you thought about increasing your perceived "road footprint" with something like these? TTFN John.
