    Converting to belt drive

Veer do a belt drive that joins together, on their website they show a biker with horizontal dropouts. I imagine with some bodging you could get it to work on a bike with vertical dropouts, maybe use a chain tensioner arrangement. One idea might be to add washers each side of the chain tensioner...

Has anyone heard of or tried Toseven mid drive?

I have saw somebody 3d print cable guides, they attached these to their top tube and seat stay. They used outer cable along the whole route, seemed to work.

Recommended regular bike components for ebike

When I am serving wheels I use a depth gauge to measure the distance from the threaded axle to the outer cone. This gives me a reference point, if I need to adjust for bearing for surface wear i give it a slight turn in.

I like Kool Stop Supra 2 pads, Shimano Deore / SLX mechs are good. Shimano have introduced a new system called CUES, this will probably be seen on new bikes. This system will not work with a non CUES system. Watch YouTube videos for more info. If you see any Deore / SLX mechanisms at a good...

What makes a good bike to convert?

Ask the dimensions of the battery from the seller and cut out a cardboard template, take this with you when buying bike so the battery fits in the frame. Also try and work out if you need to add an extra mounting plate as this will add extra height. I use this one...

Unicorn bike - hub gears, gates drive, mid motor, road/gravel style

Buy a bike, add mid drive, get a wheel made using a rohloff hub or Alfine / nexus hub. I think you need a special frame to use a gates drive but people have converted it on a standard frame.

    Schaeffler's chain-free e-bike system now in production

Drivetrain technology will only change for the masses when Shimano and SRAM get involved. Shimano have bought the CUES system which still uses the chain and cassette system. I thought Shimano would have made their Alfine hub thru axle compatible and brought out a belt drive system. Sram are...
