    Locks, security, registering, battery etc!

It really depends where you live as to how security conscious you need to be. As a rule, I try never to leave my e-bikes anywhere unattended, but if I must I use a Sold Secure Gold rated Kryptonite New York D-lock. It's a crippling 4kg in weight to carry, but it's still only a few minutes...

    Highway code changes

This from The Mirror today... a lot to take in, but seems a good summary: Highway Code changes for cyclists - important new rules for those on bikes (msn.com)

    Help with problem

On the only Fiido M1 I've seen, the skewer lever is supposed to sit on the opposite side to the brake disc, not reversed as you have it with the lever on the disc rotor side. It's hard to tell from your photos, but my guess is the fork has a detent or deeper rebate on one side or the other to...

    Fiido D21

When Fiido launched the D11 it had a number of construction issues... which is reason enough not to buy an indiegogo funded project bike. In all fairness, every batch of D11's I've seen since have had those issues incrementally resolved. The D11 today is a far better bike than those early...

    Fiido D21

Apart from the very cheapest Fiido models, all the bikes are now using the new display - including the D11, D4S and M1/Pro/M21. It can be ordered as a spare part, but it's not clear which version Fiido would supply. You could buy a Fiido X: With torque sensor and hydraulic brakes, the 350w...

    Fiido D21

That's exactly what it is (I have a D11). The issue is the new display Fiido have just started using. On the old display, on the D11, you changed the wheel size from 20 to 12.4. That gave you a top speed of 18mph and as a bonus the display read in MPH instead of KPH. The D11/D21 motor isn't...

    Batribike Sigma

A new battery that's likely been sitting in storage for a while never gives of it's best until it's been used a few times. Use it until you're down to one bar if you can and then recharge to full for the first few uses. Never charge the battery when it's cold (outside or after a ride in the...

    Mudguards & Controllers

I don't know the Merida brand very well, but a 4" fat tyre bike really isn't their market. The logo on the headtube doesn't look like Merida's either. I came across a fat-tyre e-bike the other week that had KTM convincingly emblazened on the downtube. On closer inspection the whole bike had...

Help! Just got my first ebike (ADO A20F)

Yes, I bought mine from AliExpress. Although the price wavers, I paid £23 a pair inc post and VAT with no import duties, arrived in 7 days. My D11 weighs 17kg - yes, a fair bit lighter than the A20F, but then I'm a fat old lump which likely makes up for any weight advantage. But I think the...

Yes, that's what I did too as it's an easy fit. I wrote about it here.

Help! Just got my first ebike (ADO A20F)

Oops. I deleted that comment when I was going to add... On knobblies, it doesn't make a lot of difference I guess. The only time I came across that the whole fork/stem/handlebar had been rotated. I fitted the Zoom HB-100's on my Fiido D11 a few weeks ago. I find they are better than the...

    Ado A20 or Fiido D4S

I haven't heard of Yoikoto or the Kristall F20 either. It says 7 speed. I too don't believe the 15kg unless that's excluding the battery! I'm not sure why you place such emphasis on the current of the controller. The thing to remember is the cells in these lower cost e-bikes aren't premium, and...

    Ado A20 or Fiido D4S

There are a couple of places in London that stock and will allow you to try both... IIRC BicycleLand is one. On paper the ADO appears to offer more, but on a ride it's (IMHO) a horrible pile of crap. For example, the front shock seems a good idea but in reality it's just a useless unadjustable...

    AD0 A20 help please

If there's a connector between the rear wheel motor and the controller, that may need pushing back together so it's tight. Beyond that, it may be a controller problem. At 7 months, it's still under warranty. ADO have a UK office in Covent Garden.

    Suspension posts

What's wrong with the Cane Creek Thudbuster or Suntour SP12? They seem to be the most frequently cited premium suspension seatposts, and both available in the UK. If the Kinekt is really as good as you imply, surely it too would be available worldwide (as the two brands above are)?

Hi all, new here from Vancouver, Washington. Have recently bought a used 2017 Raleigh Route IE. I rode it daily unfortunately for me it rains daily !

Welcome WA Rain Rider! On your side of the pond Raleigh (Currie) is a totally different proposition to the range of Raleigh e-bikes we see here in the UK. We see precious few 350w/28 MPH motors fitted to any ready-manufactured e-bikes (legally, we're mostly restricted to 250w/15.5 MPH), and...

    Carrera Crosscity E

At it's simplest, you only need 2 pins connected: + & - volts. More expensive e-bikes often do have the extra pins in a battery connected for the BMS to "communicate" with the bike's controller/display, providing extra information. There's a lot to be said for the simpler style of just having a...

Welcome to the forum Thorls1 As nobody else has answered, I thought I'd give it my best shot.. Halfords changed a lot of things in 2018/2019. The owner manuals show the manufacturers of both bikes and batteries for many models changed, even though the bikes themselves mostly look the same and...

Help! Which is right for me?

IBM ??? Unless you're a child of the 1970/80's, you won't know what that stands for either! As for AndyBikes recomended ebike: When the battery alone blows the OP's budget, you'd think they'd at least include some pedals... Oh, but of course, it's German... or at least pretending to be. The...
