Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

13,500 Miles I have just had a series of 8 days at work with one day off in the middle. I rode the Haibike to 5 of these completing 122 miles on it. The two jobs I did not ride the Haibike to work, I rode my old original almost 10 year old Oxygen down to the railway station and commuted by...

    Windy, Wet and Wonderful

I forgot my charger today, and not knowing I had did a longer 16 mile off road route into work, using 32% of my 400Wh original battery. As I suspected the battery level drops faster in the second half of the batteries capacity and I arrived home with just 10% left, which in real terms is the end...

    Windy, Wet and Wonderful

Today will be the last of three late shift cross country rides to work on my 2015 Haibike Yamaha. Almost because rather than despite of the weather they have been fantastic. Some spitting rain and blustery wind in beautiful countryside, what more could you ask for. My job involves different...

    Long term ebike motor repairs

I have just skimmed through this thread so sorry if this advise has been given, but if you love your current non electric bike, why not electrify it with a kit, either yourself or with a quality specialist. I have never used him but Brighton ebikes are such an outfit...

    Tyre pressure

If you are using tubes I would not go too low as you could get a pinch puncture. If tubeless you can go lower. I am heavier than you and find around 30psi a good balance between off road and on if you don't want the bother of changing the pressures. 2.35 is not a fat bike tyre and that size...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Leisure/Fitness/Fun I usually just ride my hard tail Haibike to work and back, 12 to 16 miles cross country there, and 10 miles back home on the road, but had not been at work for quite a few days and just wanted a cross country blast. I did not want to think too hard planning a route and...

    Moving Off at Traffic Lights

I got very lucky when I paid a £100 for it, and its a great bike to ride, and although it got little use with the first owner before I got my hands on it, I am doing my best to make up for that and enjoying every minute.

    Moving Off at Traffic Lights

I think the fact that my rear hub pushes the bike along taking pressure of the bicycles transmission has something to do with it. The torque system of the Haibike multiplies the power of the motor with the power of the rider and that can be a lot of power for a bicycle transmission to cope...

    Moving Off at Traffic Lights

So my lovely throttle that came as fitted on my 2011 electric bike is illegal? I do also have a crank drive Haibike mountain bike that I love for its off road ability. But it is less user friendly to pull away on from a standstill. You whizz through bottom gear in a blink of an eye, change gear...

    Moving Off at Traffic Lights

Low gear and unrestricted legal throttle at the ready on my 2011 Oxygen Emate. An unrestricted throttle is very useful in lots of circumstances, not least having full instant power available when pulling away or indeed whenever it is needed. Why did they make unrestricted throttles illegal?

    Transporting E-bikes are a nightmare!

As I said above, take the batteries off, remove the seat post and saddle and the tow bar bike rack I bought should take two bikes and is just under £90 on amazon, so very affordable. My lardy 2011 Oxygen Emate travelled to Devon on it and was solid as a rock.

    Transporting E-bikes are a nightmare!

I had a bit of a nightmare with the CAN bus system on my Skoda. Knowing I might tow a trailer or use a tow bar mounted bike carrier I stipulated a factory fitted tow bar when I bought the car new in March 2018. In the end I made no use of the tow bar until last year when I wanted to take an...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Good to see you back Dom T. I haven't posted as much on this thread myself. I figure there are only so many pictures of my off road ride to work that people can stand! I'm gutted, you ended up doing a higher mileage for the year on your voodoo than I did commuting to work. I ended up doing...

    Worn cassette and chain

Very true, crank drive add power to the drive train and rear hub powered bikes reduce it. I have both types of bike and the rear hub bikes are very kind to the drive train.

    Worn cassette and chain

Mine takes a beating too as I ride cross country around 14 miles to work and then 10 miles back on the road after the transmission has often been coated in muck. I use a 9 speed single chain ring set up on my Haibike. I have had recent success prolonging the life of my cassette by changing the...

    Worn cassette and chain

Zoros, they are not trying it on, if you change the chain before it goes beyond its wear limit, you should get longer use out of your cassette and chain ring. However the other approach is to just carry on until one of your gears starts to jump and then change everything, cassette, chain, chain...

Help! Help me choose between two Cube emtb models

One consideration on a crank drive is that with more power going through the drive train you will wear out components quicker. A 9 speed system is much cheaper to maintain than a 12 speed system. A lock out fork is in my opinion a bit of a gimmick on an electric bike in terms of extending...
