    Another ebike prosecution pending !

The UK Police are getting wiser it would appear. So this should clearly be seen as a "earlyy" warning to anyone riding an illegal e-bike, though as mentioned elsewhere, they are probably safe, till they have an accident....... Regards and thanks for the infos. Andy

A Key Safe that may help some of you to keep your keys "SAFE"!

Its the second or third item discussed on the video, but not the first, and what comes up after that I have no idea, YET!! I hope they are also interesting! Regards to all Pedelecers and stay "SAFE"! Andy and...

From "the Lockpicking Lawyer" - Locksmith Says My Videos Are BS... Loses $75

Probably takes longer to "set and release", than most of my bike rides! Still its a good fun picture, thanks for posting! regards Andy

    Air horn

Unless you have an AC Bike(?), a transformer will not work. You need some sort of DC to DC converter, but a cheaper alternative will be to measure the actual amps drawn, using your 12 volt car battery, (it could be more or less than the stated current, and you need to know accurately!), then...

    Range Extender for Cycle Alarm.

Thanks for the "louder" correction..... I have reread what was written and it is not really clear enough, but I will still take it onboard that I missread it..... It was:- The Blog post below describes how to modify one of the popular cycle disturb\motion alarms so you can get a warning that...

    Range Extender for Cycle Alarm.

That is not the way to do it, as making it even louder will not always be appreciated, paticularly by the local Police. The best way is a GPS tracker. Anywhere your smart phone has reception, you will be warned of vibration alarms (when correctly set up) and where your bike is, without upsetting...

    Fire at ebike showroom

You have reminded me of an incident in the RN fire training I attended (several times over 10 years!). I remember a hot oil fire (reacts differently to a cold oil fire), that was sending 30 foot flames in the air. The trainer, who was telling us all to gather round to watch what happens when...

Help! Coast to Coast Trans Pennine Trail

Faster chargers, do decrease the life of a battery. This has been well documented for some years, and cannot be recommended. But even a partial charge over an extended lunch time pause, will possibly get most of the charge replaced, hopefully enough for a few hours biking before pausing...

    Crosscity

If it is Brand New, you need to talk to the supplier as soon as possible, as telling him that its been like that since you bought it, in say 6 months, is NOT going to win you any new friends now is it!! Best wishes Andy

    Fire at ebike showroom

There is always a risk with the type of battery used, care must always be 100% correct. Tesla cars have had people die in battery fires, ones that spread so rapidly, the driver could not get out in time!! A recent one:- In Woodlands, Tex., two passengers died in April 2021 after a driverless...

Help! Samebike 20LVXD30 48v Charging Problem

Full body protection and a safety mask for breathing. Work outside if possible. Have a large container nearby, filled with water, and a hose ready for any mishaps, to throw the battery into. Electric cars that catch fire, are sometimes dumped into huge tanks full of water and given 12 hours to...

Help! Samebike 20LVXD30 48v Charging Problem

Good and sensible advice, experience is a hard school. I think that the more one knows about Li-ion battery building/repair, the less inclined one is to actually do it!! regards Andy

Help! Samebike 20LVXD30 48v Charging Problem

I hope for your sake that its just (!!) a BMS problem...... To "build" (or take apart!) a battery, a battery welder is a handy tool to have, I am told, and some simple designs can be home made, using parts taken from an old Microwave! See the web for details. Testing each cell, if needed, will...

Help! Samebike 20LVXD30 48v Charging Problem

When a quality battery is manufactured, all the cells must be of the exact same type, and from the same manufacturer. No mixing with cells from different sources...or different versions! Some people (not me!) who build their own batteries, even insist that the cells are all made on the same...

Dangerous e-bike chargers found on Amazon and eBay

Well said. As far as my (limited) experience tells me (probably only about a dozen chargers, all much the same!), none are made to operate like that, at least none that I myself have experience of..... The way I do it, is to purchase a cheap 24 hour timer, the ones with the synchronous motor...

Motor going backwards all of a sudden?

Brushless DC motors are electrically very similar to 3 Phase AC motors. Swapping any two field leads with each other, will reverse the rotation. Also, if it has Hall effect sensors, swapping them can do the same I believe. Sadly, it appears from infos from others here on Pedelec, that the...

Dangerous e-bike chargers found on Amazon and eBay

Does that really happen? I had not seen that mentioned before...... No wonder they are considered dangerous...... regards Andy

Dangerous e-bike chargers found on Amazon and eBay

In what way? That is actually the 36 volt DC charging current, not the mains 230VAC plug/socket current. The actual AC mains current drawn to supply 2 amps DC at 36 voltsDC would therefore be much smaller than 2 amps. And even if it was the mains current, it is still well within the design...
