Shipping an ebike from Stockholm to the uk

Ship it in two or more boxes as bike components. If the battery is removed, then so is the risk that the administrative controls are there to manage, so safety is dealt with. Just need a way through the bureaucratic overreach.

    For Sale Bargains

My wiggle and chain reaction sale purchases are starting to be flung in the general direction of my address and I learnt something about Shimano 4 pot brakes.... Couldn't work out why there are two separate listings for m6120 on wiggle at markedly different prices...until my ebay auction one...

    For Sale Bargains

Proper hill walking Goretex jacket keeps me dry from inside and out, no matter how heavy the rain or long the day. There are other breathable materials, I have not used any in jacket form so cannot vouch for them. Trousers I use any mountaineering over trousers that claim to be breathable, as...

    Courier Chaos

The same sweatshop applies here to the drivers, but the customer sees two big differences. We have to be content with a successful delivery, and forget about any timescale we have paid for, and most couriers end up coming via Menzies as it is impossible for any brand bar RM and PF to survive on...

    Courier Chaos

Something to do with parcel delivery economics perhaps? Stage 2 is delivery companies going out of business. Our largest operator besides Royal Mail and Parcelforce is about to call it quits, despite the substantial premiums we pay on every parcel because of our location...

    New Bike

You have a front row seat now each time hub vs mid-drive comes up for discussion! All my miles have been done on a 40Nm mid-drive, 60 will do you well for anything except extreme offroad. Most important care aspect is keeping water away from where it should not be. Don't pressure wash, don't...

    smallest viable battery..

No lithium ion battery is allowed on a plane unless it is certified to the necessary standards, regardless of it's capacity. I would not trust the printing on the wrapper of a cheap purchase like the one linked to mean what it says, and for the sake of another £44 spent at the destination, I...

    yamaha hardseven sduro 5.0 troubles

Whenever I want any Shinano Steps component, all the way from large things like a motor down to as small as a cable, something has always turned up on Ebay or other online sources. Your rudpkay (edit: that should say display - autocorrect gone mad!) will have a part number or model number...

Big battery or small battery plus a spare?

I'm firmly in the multiple batteries camp. Two batteries means two chargers which means double the charge rate. Opens up possibilities for longer trips. My Shimano collection of 5 are all 400 or 500 Wh. Except for specialist short trip/light load use, I wouldn't go below 400.

    Brake calipers quality

I understand that, but many readers of this thread may like the related but not exactly aligned info! I had been looking for 4 pot brakes, and had missed the latest wiggle until @AndyBike's post above.

    Brake calipers quality

Wiggle has M420, M520 and M6120 in sale now. Not entirely straightforward, as some of them are left front / right rear, but if you need a set swapping over is easy enough.

    Brake calipers quality

Can you bear the thought of having two bikes? Old faithful for days of rose tinted eye guards and new usurper for keeping up with the Jones's?

How do you deal with a puncture/breakdown when out?

I haven't measured the rim width, but the tyre is a 47mm marathon plus. In dreamland I build a new swinging arm for a bigger wheel.

How do you deal with a puncture/breakdown when out?

I'm HP Velotechnik rather than ICE, but probably very similar. I think it is quoted as 'from 16kg' before I add the motor etc, so the basic electrified version will be lighter than my Ridgeback. Gearing is an interesting challenge as the rear wheel is only 20" so I can't use my preferred 11-51...

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

I solder them, and use the 30A rated contacts, which for my average current draw of about 3A is fine. They are quite small bits of metal, so if I was using much higher current I might change to XT60 or XT90. I always buy the genuine Andersons, not the clones. The clones might be fine, I don't...

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

I use Anderson power poles rather than XT60, and this is my dc-dc converter that plugs in-between battery and controller when I need it to provide USB for charging small things. If you can solder, then same principle gets you a power takeoff for your lights. I would include an inline fuse close...

    Reduced range in the cold

Last winter I didn't notice any reduction as it got colder, but I did notice a substantial improvement in range when spring sprung! The matching reduction must have crept up on me undetected! Battery indoors during cold days is a good tactic, and if you had the chance of a bit of charging time...

Cute Q70 motor for Brompton... which rim?

I remember quite a long Brompton discussion a while back. If you search brompton in titles only, it might be in that list. I don't have relevant knowledge myself.
