    Batteries from Nkon.nl anyone?

It's an efficient lightweight solution, but I struggle to believe it is safe in windy conditions, or when buffeted by the turbulence produced by large vehicles. Smaller area panels along the same lines would work for a bike not ridden continuously.

    Pedelec Nirvana

Those big tyres work even better on a wide rim. 30mm or more is now common on mountain bike wheels, and cargo bikes such as Tern use 36mm, with a 60mm tyre section.

    Carrera Vengeance Conversion

I'd tidy up those dangly wires. Anything that can get pulled, will get pulled.

Bafang reliability (my experience - OVERWHLMINGLY POSITIVE!)

You can see what's involved in changing the chain by buying a new one and looking at what arrives. Practice putting the quick link together, and separating it, and that's one big step under your control. One step at a time, practise first, that's how I muddle along.

    Advice for shallow dropouts

You look to have plenty of axle length to work with, and a fairly large flat area around the dropout. I would make my own anti rotation plates from say 4mm or 5mm aluminium sheet. A close fitting axle shaped hole - not a slot, a hole, much stronger - and then drill and bolt to those flat...

    Inter-bike charging

    (1) Mine is an MBR6045WT, chosen because I read about someone else using it, and it was easily available. Not as a result of deep research! (2) Many! They seem to want (QM) 28W each, so 2.8kW for 100 of them. My three Sunpower lightweight panels are 110W peak output each, i.e. full sun and...

    Inter-bike charging

Like this: Two, two way input connectors on the left, one, two way output connector on the right. I just unplug the battery cable, insert this, and good to go, solar or not. The bike wiring does not need any modification if a convenient connector already exists. The negative wiring does...

    I'll post a picture tomorrow.

    Pendalton e bike battery

Ok, so balance is good. It is possible the BMS is refusing to allow charging because it does not like 27V. The workaround, which carries risks and so should only be attempted if you understand them, is to charge directly to the cells rather than through the BMS until above the low voltage...

    Pendalton e bike battery

27V is horribly low. That might be something to do with it. You said you had it apart: did you measure the individual cell group voltages? They should all be close to identical.

    250 motor repairs a month

The Scorpion trike in my signature text still awaits my finding time to complete: not retired, and addicted to seeing how many km is too much for my Ridgeback! It came to me as third owner, 8 years old but looking unused, for somewhat under £2K. I have built a rather agricultural replacement...

I'll of course aim no lower!

    250 motor repairs a month

Not really - this 3 year old bike had RRP of £2700 back then, but better motor and larger battery are now normal on bikes from not much above £2K. We're not in the Maclaren sphere!

    250 motor repairs a month

From the first time I rode one, I was impressed with the quality of the response far more than the mere fact of being assisted! And that is still the case 27,000km on. It really is like having upgraded legs, and the various assistance levels allow me to choose between several sets of them...

    Inter-bike charging

I use the same technique for my solar trailer. If you use simple and quick connectors both on the diode setup and bike wiring it is quite a small job, and the diodes can be added/removed 'in an instant'. Hint: run a three ended 'black' cable as well as the 'red' three legs of the diode, so...

    250 motor repairs a month

I'd be interested to see telemetry data and motor / battery / bike specifications for that actually being done. Even better, 150kg non-stop up the Bealach na Ba. That's the sort of challenge my long rides always contain, and the lack of the data demonstrating success is a barrier to my moving...

    250 motor repairs a month

The motor reliability is only a sample of one, but all I do is not abuse it or dunk it or pressure wash it. I have no idea how long it will go on for! I heard of one that had done 67,000km.

    250 motor repairs a month

I'm just back from my latest trip up to Muckle Flugga and back, with all up weight of 140kg or so, on my now very well used Shimano E5000 puny 40Nm mid-drive motor. 27,000km, riding in whatever weather I'm given, but not deliberately ever riding in more surface water than I have to. So far no...

    Carrera Vengeance Conversion

Your gear cable is flapping around, so of course the gears won't change. Didn't it used to go under the bottom bracket, so had to move to fit the motor? All it needs is a full length new outer cable, and you may need a new inner because cut ends often will not go through. Plus some cable...

    Inter-bike charging

Chargers for 36V lithium ion batteries output 42V, so the BMS may just say no. If the BMS effectively allows a direct connection, then the current flowing will depend on the state of charge of the two batteries. Could be rather high, might just blow fuses if present, or might destroy things...
