Daytime flashing front light: good or bad idea?

Some of (if not all) the Reise & Muller e-bikes have dip/main beam front lights, as well as actual brake lights on the back, which shock the heck out of motorists who have barely got used to the concept of brake lights on cars.

    Best puncture resistant tyres?

Neither Marathos Plus nor (afaik) M-EP, are available in the size require for the Tern Vektron (only the studded winter ones).

Brief review of the Tern Vektron P7i .. warts and all.

Good luck with your HSD .. I think that's what Pete (at Bicycles by Design) rides around on himself. Yes, folding comes with lots of compromises, if you don't need it, best avoided. If you do need it, then no option. Hiring one was a good move (although finding someplace to hire one is a...

    Best puncture resistant tyres?

AS I said in another place, I had a thorn puncture thru Tannus inserts (3/4 of the away from the rim, so not the thickest part) from a hawthorn that would double as a gramophone needle (78 rpm only) .. that was Big Apple rather than MP+, but still Schwalbe and supposedly good puncture...

    Securing bike at home

What make / brand / monthly fee? That is next on my list, but not so great if I am not home, and the nearest neighbour is Km away ..

    Securing bike at home

Yep, that's certainly an issue, so I guess the angle grinder needs chaining to a ring well away from the power. I think I'd notice power tool use if I was at home though, and I expect most thieves bring their own anyway. As has been said before, if they want it badly enough they will get it...

    Securing bike at home

This solution was mentioned way-way back in the past, but having found it, I followed thru to the website, bought the ground anchor in question, and fitted it. I have nothing to do with the company, but have nothing but praise for their attention to detail, communication, delivery (48 hours!)...

    Best puncture resistant tyres?

Has anyone actually tried the Marathon Plus WINTER tires (with studs etc?) .. not sure we ever have enough ice cover to make them a viable option, and I guess the grip on wet tarmac would be even worse than vanilla MP, but maybe someone has actual experience?

    Pedelec Law - The Details

Quite probably, but then anything which can kill, or seriously injure, an innocent 3rd party, and which happens a lot, probably does need some sort of regulation. Insurance at the very least, IMO.

    Gazelle Dealers Ebay

Most bosch ebike repairers could fix a gazelle.. Standard bosch drives afaik. At a price of course, but my LBS has a 'certified bosch repairer' sign outside, and doesnt say 'only if you bought it from us'. The price does need to reflect the (presumed) lack of warranty though. Not that bosch...

    Help! Clicking noise (bottom bracket?)

But being a complete-ist, I'd have to have a whole set, so the £3.50 would balloon significantly..

    Help! Clicking noise (bottom bracket?)

A regular allen key and some hollow steel curtain pole or 1/2" copper pipe, will also get you dangerous amounts of torque.

    Bike Locks

My insurer, LV, insists the bike be locked to something immovable.

Brief review of the Tern Vektron P7i .. warts and all.

You really need to decide what your priorities are and draw up some sort of want list, maybe even weight the items. If you want to carry kids then many/most folders are going to fail the weight test I think (plus folding it with a child seat on is likely an issue), but something like the Tern...

Brief review of the Tern Vektron P7i .. warts and all.

I think changing the rear sprocket is easier.. Iirc the current one is 16T, which is the smallest.. Going to 20T (23 is also possible) should help a lot, and does not require taking off the chain guard and messing with ths crankset. It also should take about 2 links of slack out of the chain.

Brief review of the Tern Vektron P7i .. warts and all.

'Possibly', but you'd be messing with the Bosch crankset, and probably doing bad things to your warranty, and you'd have even more slack chain to tension. Sticking a larger sprocket on the back instead might be a possible/safer option, but I probably won't try it.

Brief review of the Tern Vektron P7i .. warts and all.

They are pretty good bikes that's why they score 3.5 or 4.0, they are just not (IMO) well suited (at least in hub gear form) to very hilly terrain and/or heavy riders. You definitely pay extra for a) the Tern name and b) the FOLDing. If you didn't need to get 2 of them into a smallish car...

The spec for this can be viewed at https://www.ternbicycles.com/bikes/471/vektron-p7i I got my bike from 'Bicycles by design' in Telford (OK, really in Coalport), since they were one of the few places that actually had a usable demonstrator, which I could try before parting with a 50% deposit...

Long bikes (2bikes joined together) where?

Bicycles by Design at Telford (well coalport) had a motorised 3 seater (in line) outside last time i was there. Of course they can/do build them from tubing, so no problem, just a tandem plus. The motor was in the front crank iirc, but i didn't see the make.

    Riding in the rain

Any particular brand or type recommended? I guess ones that cover the e handlebars obscure front lights and make it hard to see your speed, gear, rear view mirror etc?!
