ive done it, use a nice proper padded comfortable rucksacke with a waist strap and a long cord with an easily detachable connector. heres the connector heres the bag and bike i had a 12v 26ah sla in the bag. i couldnt really feel the weight. the nice padded hikeing bag with the waist...

    Realative AH

if you buy a 10ah lipo or li ion to replace a 10ah sla. youll see a range and performance increase. more so in torque/accleration and less so top speed. the bike will weigh less which adds to performance in handling/brake efficiency. sadly the price is nearly 3 to 4 times as much. however...

Do ebike controllers protect SLA batteries?

28kg of batteries. 15kg of bike and about 5 kgs of hub motor. probably best that i only weigh ten and a half stone : D the static weight of it is something you can really feel (so could the three bike stands ive broken) pushing/manouvering it about under my steam is some exercise. funny thing...

Do ebike controllers protect SLA batteries?

12ah should be enough for 250w. i run 4x 12v 20ah sla on a 48v 1000w, and they're all second hand what are you using to charge the batteries? maybe its not topping them up correctly. i use an official skyrc b6 max, its probably the best smart charger out there for the money, 20quid on ebay, if...

    batteries and the ah con

thansk for the replies, i have those cell checkers already, good stuff. and lipos...tiny tiny lipos ive never liked "fast charging" lipos. i have one friend who always fast charges his lipos (2c) and hes the only friend who ive heard multiple stories from of his batteries puffing and exploding...

    batteries and the ah con

that icharger looks a bit of overkill. does it do 48V? the specification seem to suggest it doesnt. ive had much success with my imax b6 chargers. shame they only go to 22v. you could buy a few of them and "split" you battery for charging at a fraction of the cost.

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

properly maintained (aligned cleaned and resurfaced) v brakes are good enough for me. i can lock up each wheel independantly and come to a full stop pretty sharpish. i rarely use the rear brake (or feel a need to) as i dont wanna scuff my shiney ehub motor rim :S i did think about bigger...

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

the batteries are held on by four identical ruggid plastic golf trolley battery holders bolted to the frame. the batteries are all in padded bags and firmly strapped into holders. they dont budge and the padding makes them suprisingly comfortable to hug with your thighs. taking off and in...

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

definately a record when the bike was given to me free, even at full price just 4 brand new batteries would of cost me about £120. i have 8 (4 spare) anyone got 30mph for cheaper than £230? its a cheap steel framed full suspension mountain bike with 26" rims, unsure of make as it was generic...

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

ooooo its getting a bit heated, calm down chaps :) is counting the windings a case of disassemble and count? the motor has no markings on it and the seller is nigh on useless as a regards to further information :S how usefull would this be in knowing the limit of my motor? not sure how to tell...

    batteries and the ah con

ive just had another thought. this is between sla and lipo life etc. as voltage = speed and amps = torque. roughly a lipo 48v battery will be 12cell 12 x 4.2v = 50.4volts maximum a SLA 48v battery will be 4 cell 4 x 14.7= 58.8v maximum theoretically could i achieve a higher speed with the...

    48v sla balance charging?

i have the slas already. 4x 20ah and another 4 spare 20ah when they go kaput (lucky charity shop find for 30quid) i might aswell run them into the ground, scrap them, then spend the scrap money on a lifepo4 :) ive half solved it for now. ive bought another imax b6 charger. i can charge two...

    melted blade fuse

update: on closer inspection i found the fuse holder to be at fault. the controller side terminal in the holder was loose meaning for arcing etc. quick squeeze with the pliers and all is good. fuse runs ice cold. went for an hours blast and it feels more torquey with a 2mph speed increase. now...

    48v sla balance charging?

ok. here goes..... i have 4x 20ah 12v sla batteries. im currently charging them on a cheap china ebay 48v charger. does the job.....just i fear this is not charging them equally, properly or as well as they could be. max output is 56v making for 13v a cell not 14.7 : s ive also noticed the...

    batteries and the ah con

ok cool so if im drawing around 20 amps i need a 20ah pack to get a reliable 1c and the fullish 20ah next question lipo or lifepo4? lifepo4 seems a safter more stable longer lasting option

    melted blade fuse

noticed this with my golf trolley bikes and its happening again with my hub motor the main fuse gets really hot and melt/warps its casing but doesnt blow. google says its cheap fuses. i concur with this few questions. 1. is this heat loss going to be a noticeble drain on efficiency/power...
