    And todays idiots are

It is noticeably different in the city and the countryside. I am frequently close passed in the town and a few weeks ago I was cut up on a roundabout by a driver who forced me to stop as he shot into a mini roundabout in front of me. He absolutely knew I was there because I was wearing my very...

    And todays idiots are

I meet quite a lot of horses on my motorbike rides around here, when I ride on the very small, back roads. I like just pootling along at low speeds enjoying the views. So when I meet a horse rider, I just pull up and stop the engine until they either pass, or the rider has them in full control...

Those old engines were so simple to understand and do things with and you could do major strip down work with pretty minimal tools.

    bafang suddenly cut out today

And if the cell groups are unbalanced, the BMS will shut off and the bike will stop when one cell group reaches the low point of about 3v. I think mine shut off when one group reached 2.9v. Is this a new or an oldish battery? That charged voltage is very low. Probably too low to mean one cell...

Hooligans!! :) The good old days. There was a lot good about the seventies - as long as you don't think about the fashions and the hairstyles. The laws about sidecar outfits were very strange. As a learner, you could ride up to a 250 motor cycle then, but no pillion. The same license allowed...

I never set off on those journey's without a big dose of anxiety about what would happen.I had all kinds of horrible breakdowns on the A1, from burned out valves on the A10, to a seizure of the BSA C15 - and usually at least a hundred miles from home. Bear in mind, these terrible old motorbikes...

I lay the Brompton flat in the boot, but this one would not go in flat and was obstructing the door, so I took out the parcel shelf, stuck it on the back seat and put the bike in with the wheels vertical.

You and I have had many similar experiences. That span of 'outfit riding is similar to mine, only I dumped mine in 1974 for a 1960 Morris Thousand - mine was an 850cc engine. What you say about the snow is certainly true, and I would add bad fog to your 'better than solo'. I used to ride mine...

I charged mine up when I first got it, rode 9 miles and then charged it up again and rode it seven miles. I just checked the voltage on the battery output pins when I was trying to free off the stuck power switch. The voltage was 40.3V. After seven miles of riding, that suggests a fairly meagre...

The trouble getting it in the boot is about its size not its weight. The fold is not compact like the Brompton. It is also rather a complex business to work the frame hinges. The middle one in particular has some quite tricky safety lock features built in, and without proper descriptions or...

Thanks Matthew. I doubt I will change them. I am more inclined to just try to get the existing things to work properly. It isn't my main bike and never will be. I have my French niece coming to stay next week and wanted something she could ride around the countryside when she is here.

Around here it is quite common to see farm dogs riding on the back of quad bikes as the farmers drive from one field to another. They are incredibly adept at jumping up on the rear platform of the bike and they brace themselves as they go around bends, often going quite fast I never saw one...

By the way - the brakes on this thing are pretty bad. The contrast with the disc brakes on my Specialised BBS01 conversion (hydraulic) is stark. Those are fantastic by comparison. Fettling and bedding in may help. I have only ridden it about twelve miles so far.

I rode a sidecar outfit for a couple of years when I was a student. It was a terrible machine with dangerous tendencies, like the sidecar rising up off the road if you turned left at anything but a pedestrian pace. It never braked in a straight line either and how much it veered depended on how...

DOG STARTS FIRE BY CHEWING LITHIUM BATTERY

That cat has outlived the dog. Nipper was put to sleep about a fortnight ago aged fourteen,The cat is 19 now and looks a little more scraggy than he did in that picture. The cat used to dominate any dog he ever met. He just walked up to them and licked them. For some reason they accepted him as...

Yeah - it's not great. However it will do for what I have in mind. Even if you had done that Neil, it would still be very cheap. One thing I may not have mentioned. It is very heavy. It's like riding on a girder. Only just got it in the boot as well. I had to take out the parcel shelf and stand...

Please don't attach the ravings of a lunatic fringe to the four million people who voted for that party Peter. Thanks Guerney. Good info. Just on our shared passion for BBS01 systems - this hub motor speed control is SO crude by comparison to our soft start BBSes. It comes on like a dragster when i start pedaling. I need to be a bit careful doing a u turn on a narrow track. I nearly ended up in the...
