Legal status of ebikes that are identical to those that have gone through the DVSA approval process but haven't been tested

It's the usual legalistic, persnickety ****** that goes on all around this stuff. I used to be on a Facebook group for the old Honda CG125 motorcycles and when ULEZ came in, they were being charged £12 a day for non compliance, just based on their age. For perspective, the CG125 delivered...

    Legal EBIKE LOOPHOLES

And how has that worked out for you? Seven days after showing us how you were averaging 35 miles an hour, this happened: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/emtb-owners-photo-and-ride-thread.24089/post-714033

Help! Pendleton Somerby E (2019+) battery charger - shows charged (red light + green light) when not connected to battery

Yeah - its probably not a great idea when you need help to get snarky with the guy who spent years running an ebike workshop and spent most of his life in engineering..... So - a couple of thoughts from me - much less qualified to advise you: 1. On Monday you told us that your charger was...

Help! Pendleton Somerby E (2019+) battery charger - shows charged (red light + green light) when not connected to battery

Saneagle explained that in March in post #4 of the thread. Click link and it will open at that post. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/pendleton-somerby-e-2019-battery-charger-shows-charged-red-light-green-light-when-not-connected-to-battery.46881/post-707676

Help! Pendleton Somerby E (2019+) battery charger - shows charged (red light + green light) when not connected to battery

The power connector may have burned contacts. The fact that wiggling the plug in the socket lets it charge normally suggests that may be the case, or that the wiring has become loose, but I think that is less likely. Just a guess guided by the symptoms.

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

That is probably the best explanation of our nation's moribund, and poverty stricken state that I have ever read, and as it happens, the writers blame principally my great hates - the 1947, Town and Country Planning Act and the power to halt development handed to nimby idiots, and the over...

£245 Argos Folder Improvements - complete story

No. I get on the bike and go out for a ride. I want my riding to be an uncomplicated pleasure - which it generally is. Besides - messing about with my telephone would not easily tell me the mileage covered if I was estimating battery consumption, nor would it tell me my speed as I ride...

£245 Argos Folder Improvements - complete story

No. I didn't allow for tyre compression either. How heavy do you think I am? :) I really only wanted to have a record of how far I was going on the bike, and was vaguely curious about what speed the PAS2 of 3 cut off at. This data does not need to be accurate to the third decimal point... I...

You always need to be on guard

Glad to see you back, but sorry you had a bad time. I was wondering how you had got on. Hope you are soon mended and back to your old ways. :)

You always need to be on guard

You know the country is REALLY broken when a court of law seeing that evidence gives such a ridiculously lenient sentence as this. The ban of three years is utterly incredible. It ought to have been for life. That woman will still be suffering long after the driver is out of jail and back on the...

    Wisper Wisper Bike rack cracked

Given that the rack is carrying the battery and that this was sold as an ebike, I think it is a bit much that the supplier doesn't treat it as part of the bike. It isn't an ancillary part added on if you bought it as an ebike and the rack carries the battery. It clearly isn't up to the job of...

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

No one need worry if their bike is set up properly. Both of mine are, although one of mine has only recently been legalised. When I bought it it had a full speed throttle and would go to about 20 miles an hour, but I bought a programming lead and fixed it. The throttle was taken off. Even if a...

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

I thought some of the hysterical headlines about ebikes with a one kilowatt motor being capable of 71 miles an hour were a bit funny though. You need about 15 kilowatts for that speed. It might spin the wheel in the air at an equivalent road speed of 71 miles an hour, but it wouldn't go above...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Polsters said that the BREXIT vote would be won by remain. Polsters were amazed when Boris Johnson won an 80 seat majority in 2019. People who look at the results of pols, see which one predicts what they want to see, and then say that is the most reliable, are conning themselves. That was the...

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

I've absolutely no patience with these delivero, fast Frankenbikes flying about at speed and not pedalling them, or thinly disguised mopeds masquerading as EAPCs. If you want a moped - just get one it's not exactly onerous to put one on the road and stay legal. The last time I taxed the old...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

I'm pretty sure that whatever Milibrain thinks, we will be using gas powered power generation long into the future as a backup to the excellent wind farms and solar power. I would suggest that people should be offered free solar power installations on their roof if it is suitable - every little...

£245 Argos Folder Improvements - complete story

I am unsure as to which mounting adaptor for the HB100 I should order. I might as well do the job properly. By the way - I also think my cheapy wired odometer/speedometer is an improvement. It works very well and was so cheap it's mad not to have one. £4.44...
