I don't think this is necessarily connected with the reliability problems though. The original 350 watt unit was very reliable, but their troubles seem to have largely been with software since they made them programmable for anything from 250 to 500 watt ratings, plus a 250H high torque setting. Its led to quite a few failures and those firms recently adopting BionX motors almost all abandoning them now.

Hopefully that substantial loss of business will prompt BionX to make sure Smart are not affected.
