The Electric Bike Industry-Boom or Bust?

I think the main problem in this case was that according to the customer the driver had not entered the parcel number on to the calling card. I know from experience of carriers automated call answering systems that there is sometimes no way into the system without that number leaving the onus on the supplier to chase the parcel, or at least provide the required information.
Of course without being a party to the events one cannot know exactly what happened and whether frayed tempers made things worse.

Due to the amount of online trading I do, and the fact I'm at work all day calling cards from carriers are frequently left for me, and apart from one case where the royal mail temporarally lost the parcel I've had no problems.

I'll write you a cheque now

Hi Scott,

musicbooks original posting said:
I would welcome comments about the above generally, and the reliability/staying power of 50cycles and the eZee brand?
I came across an electric bicycle business for sale on the internet the other day - it turned out to be yours.

Steven

Business For Sale?

Hi Steven

That notice is quite old and was required to raise funding for the next phase of 50cycles development surprised its still there I will take it down immediately.

This is a very exciting time and we are in a great position to provide an even better service.

There are some great things happening in the world of Electric Bikes and looking forward to bike to the future.

All the Best

Scott
A few days ago I asked a simple question " How reliable and rock -solid is the electric bike business ? ", and I seem to have opened a can of worms. I find Scott's comments (from 50cycles) following the discovery of a 'For Sale' ad in a local paper somewhat alarming. Perhaps a little more reassurance is required before I part with my £1000+

:) Thanks for the clarification Scott. I just needed to hear it from the horses (or the electric bike!) as they say.. Your company has attracted great praise on this forum and your comments about developing and expanding a business are extremely pertinent ( I should know, I teach business and management)
The cheque's in the post

Scott's post shows that 50cycles is a modern company that will rapidly adapt to a changing business climate. I believe a company like this has far more chance of remaining in business than some more traditionally ran companies. Basically given the choice of buying from a company like that or a traditional company with one foot in a bankruptcy court or a fly by night outfit really leaves no choice at all.

My own multi-national employer, like most, is always buying and selling parts of the company to raise capital, I don't pretend to know exactly how it works, but that's why I'm an employee rather than an employer, and I still don't exactly know who owns the company I work for.

I completely agree, and hope that they are not bought out and 're-modelled' by the other less motivated segments of the business you mention.

Thanks Ian - and the bike is great!

Apologies Mil if I took a simplistic veiw of what was a far more complex problem than I appreciated. It seems there were errors made by both supplier and courier and you've been extremely unlucky to have had a problem in the first place and then to have this trouble sorting it out.
I wish you better luck with the bike in future.
Thanks Ian. It has been a bruising experience. Thankfully, thats in the past and we all have had a chance to learn from it.

I've been having a great time with the bike. The bike makes my early starts and late finishes something to look forward to. I bought some great lights - electron - and can now see in the dark when cycling home through these dark lanes and be seen very well by motorists.

There's been a lot of interest locally and I am doing a piece in the local paper in a couple of weeks about commuting with the bike. The local car club is also looking at the bike next week to see if it is something they want to include in their repertoire.

I will be writing to my local councillors and MP next week about the lack of transport locally. I would like to promote the electric bike as an option for local people but to be a viable option the right support needs to be in place first.
Watch this space.

Mil, please advise of any tips you can give to others regarding promoting electric bikes as I would also like to help 'persuade' local officials (perhaps a new thread).
