I really enjoyed the show today. The best bit, of course, was meeting all the people. Bikewise, for me the star of the show was surprisingly the Gocycle. It's a real masterpiece of technology and engineering. It seemed to be the most powerful by quite a bit, although I didn't get a chance to test it on full power (40 amps at 22v = 1000w). It had electronic gear-changing and a very futuristic LED display that showed speed, gears and power with an array of little red dot LEDS. The power curve was completely configurable from a smart-phone and all electronic data is logged for remote diagnostics. The bike is light, powerful, clean and easily foldable. Every feature is a masterpiece of engineering: wheel removal; enclosed disc brakes; self adjusting chain; etc. It was very simple to ride although the gear-changing is different so it takes a bit of getting used to. No problem if you own the bike.
Another surprise for me was the EZee Torque, which was as powerful as the Bosch, Neo and New Kudos Ariba, but, for me, the most pleasant to ride. I could pedal comfortably at 30mph on the slight downhill part of the track. Everything else about it made it a very user-friendly bike. It looks boring, but delivers everything that you need. I rode one at Presteign a couple of years ago, but it didn't seem as powerful as the present one. If I didn't have a bike and I wanted the best bang-for-buck all-round bike with specially good climbing power. This is now the one I'd choose. If I were strapped for cash, it would be the Woosh Sirocco CD, and If I won the lottery, it'd be the top Haibike. If I had money to spare and wanted a city bike or otherwise short-range bike, the Gocycle wins hands-down.
