Last resort, remove Speedict from battery... wait 5 mins reconnect and see if the led's come back to life.

If that does not help, then it seems that the firmware has been corrupted due to the update failing at a crucial point.(which can be a hazard with over the air rather than via cable)

OK: I wait with bated breath.....
have discussed with our engineers, the symptom (no led and dim green led) is no firmware inside your mercury that may caused by firmware upgrade failed, up to this moment we suspect that's cause by mcu hardware problem rather than workflow or process since we have tested this with our beta users for long long time, so we need your mercury back and see if it was caused by hardware related problem !

can you pm your address to me, i will speedpost a new merucy to you tomorrow, and please send your mercury (alone) to me !

you have my address printed on your box already.

I can confirm that re-flashing the firmware with vesion 1.0.0 fixes the throttle problem in Throttle Mode. we have now set our bikes to 15 mph speed limit, which also works and still gives full power for hill climbing.
(I'm back on ebike tasks again after doing family stuff over xmas)

Do we know for sure that this is a fix for port 4 throttle response?
I don't want to end up with a non functioning speedict like jackhandy.
If it cures the problem then i will try to reload the firmware. I'm guessing this done from the main speedict menu?

don't upload firmware now until next week when i have more time to discuss with our engineers or perhaps after inspected jack's return mercury.

the firmware do nothing but reset all parameter to default because i have seen so many guys here seem to have throttle function mode issues, that may caused by my misleading user guide ? or some thing else improper setting ...

so i am asking d8veh to share his setting or knowledge to you guys that much much better than my remote help, and after that i would like to based on your guys' feedback to amend the user guide !

Hi Danny
Call me impatient, but i've reloaded the firmware. All went ok.
I have retried setting the parameters in 'throttle mode' again
port 1 = speed
port 2 = thottle i/p
port 3 = temp
port 4 = throttle o/p
It works, sort of!
the throttle response is crazy, i have tried various gain values etc but cannot fine tune enough for riding.
I have sent you a log file.

Both Saneagle and myself had the problem where there was zero throttle output except in legal mode 2. We both downloaded and installed the firmware version 1.0.0, and now both of them work perfectly exactly as they should without having to change any settings other than accepting all the defaults when changing to Throttle Mode. We both have Samsung Galaxy S2 phones. I'm using Ice Cream Sandwich. Steve has a custom ROM with Android 2.3 in his phone. Both of them lost the bluetooth connection while installing and we got the message "Update failed". When we tried again, it continued where it had left off.

Just out of interest, d8veh: How far apart were your phones & speedicts when you were updating, did you move the phones at all & how long did the upgrade take - if you would be so kind.

In other words, is it possible there's a still a problem with the speedict-bluetooth connection at times?

Mine plays silly beggars sometimes when first connecting (if bluetooth is already on it knocks out when speedict tries to connect) but seemed to be fine when out on the road, as far as I can tell.

We both started by holding the phone stabding a couple of meters from the bike, butthen placed the phone on the seat because it took about 10 minutes.

The only thing I've seen tat I didn't expect was that when you exit the Speedict on the phone, it closes down the bluetooth on the phone as well. That's quite useful because it extends the phone battery life. The last version didn't do that. I have to switch on the phone's bluetooth first otherwise it doesn't connect, which is logical.

Thanks d8veh: Funny that - with my phone (galaxy note v4.0.4) If bluetooth is already on, connecting speedict turns it off!

Can we move this thread to the Technical forum, please?

It's obvious to me that there is some objection to technical matters being discussed on the Electric Bicycles forum, so can we move the whole Speedict Support thread to the Technical forum?

In future, I'll only post in Technical, as my general bike-related posts are catered for in other forums (fora?)

the logic behind bluetooth status is :

when bluetooth is on before speedict app is run, when speedict app exit, it will keep bluetooth on
when bluetooth is off before speedict app is run, when speedict app exit, it will close bluetooth ...

jackhandy, we will turn off your bluetooth and restart it immediately because as per our experience we need to reset the bluetooth that can make it more stable

Mercury-Port-Status.jpg

hi wurly,

the throttle response act normal because you set the throttle type to

Speed Throttle (ThrottleMode = 1 in port status tell me)
Speed Throttle Top Speed set to 25.2km (ThrottleSpeedValue = 252)

that's mean you top speed will be governed to 25.2km when full throttle is apply, when speed is over 25.2km mercury will try to regulate it by decrease its speed and how it response is depended on both parameters

ThrottleSpeedGain and ThrottleSpeedTimeGain, according to your port status you enter both with 200, which is so high and your throttle will response very fast and it will sometime caused "over-shot" especially your bike is no load.

please disable your throttle type first, you can then see your throttle response according to your throttle action and then go back to set throttle type to Speed Throttle, and speed set higher ....

OK Danny
The log file you see was the last settings i tried. I have tried speed/gain and time/gain at 50 previously.

I have ordered a bike stand to lift the rear wheel to make testing easier. When that arrives i will try again with throttle type disabled. Give me a few days.

also be careful when select road legal 2 mode because i have seen you entered pas sensor magnet to 1, normally should have 5 magnet on pas sensor disc, and also entered 1 cadence rpm = 100% power ...

if incorrect set this number will cause speed problem as well !

anyway take your time, happy new year to all of you :)

Well, so much for that - flecc informs me I can't post in Technical so, with no other forum available, I'll constrain my posts to speedict related & put them here.
