Does the app tell you when it's caught fire in the floor below as tumble dryers have been so apt to do many times?
.
Do tumble dryers burst into flames more often than eBikes? I have owned various tumble dryers over the last thirty years & have never had one catch fire nor have I ever heard of a tumble dryer catching fire.

Between 2014 and 2019, national figures from safety charity, Electrical Safety First, show there were 2,661 tumble dryer fires.

.

I've never had a tumble drier fire either, but from a statistical point of view, that means absolutely nothing.

I suppose like most fires, proper use of appliances (or batteries) and the application of common sense caution goes a long way in making sure that we don't wake up to find our house on fire. A great many fires of all sorts are caused by the complete stupidity of people misusing things which would have done no harm in different hands, or negligently acting in a dangerous way.

Again, you have to take into account how many tumble driers there are and how many ebikes there are. Even if the chance of a tumble drier catching fire is a lot less than an ebike, there are many times more of them, so if you look at any house burning, it's more likely to be caused by a tumble drier than an ebike, but if you own an ebike and a tumble drier, there's more chance of the ebike burning your house down.

You surprise me, you must have been cocooned from the news.

Others have answered, but a few years ago some makes and models gained notoriety for doing so too frequently, rather like certain cars were well known for the same.

Great, bad Orange man has stopped "bullshippers" from going to a "Klymate Hysteria Con-furrence" in China.
Maybe he'll pull US out of Flop30 in the newly destroyed Amazon forest location? :)

Friends of ours had their dryer catch fire in the garden shed, and it wasn't even in use. Fluff build-up or something similar. There was a recall on many of them. We have a piece of string in the garden for our washing.

We don't have a garden so a tumble dryer is a necessity.

Can't they build smoke or temperature alarms into these things? Temperature of the lint fluff area shouldn't be rising after it's been switched off. Multiple sensors perhaps, like the UL2771 standard for ebike batteries. I'm sure minutes of advance warning would be welcome. Many are combined washer/dryers, so a water supply is available within the unit for a smouldering fluff sprinkler system. If not, tumble dryers are usually situated near to a water supply. Or simply take a Dyson to it after every use (if it doesn't turn embers into a roaring fire)? Dysons really suck.

Tariffs have been here since forever. McKinley put up tariffs to an average of 50% in 1890. McKinley was trump's hero. Later that year, tariffs stoke up inflation and the Dems won the congressional election. Then came the recession in 1893. Tariffs were cut in 1894.
I expect history will repeat, in shorter cycle. In about a year, tariffs will be cut back to around 10% and becomes effectively federal sales tax or VAT. If the Dems win congressional election in 2027, they will keep tariffs at around 10%.

When I moved into a newly built flat just before Christmas 1967, I soon realised the architect had made several mistakes and poor decisions, so after living with it for two years I reconstructed a large part of the interior.

That gained me a dining alcove, relieving pressure on the lounge space, improved the natural light into the lounge and better utilised the kitchen space.

As part of the redesign, the hot water tank with an asbestos separator has an undercounter fridge and undercounter freezer alongside. Hot tank loss and the heat from the two compressor radiators vent up into the airing cupboard which has rack shelving and a hanging rail, so that is where all the washing from my machine gets dried overnight. The resulting moist warm air gets ducted to outside.

The environmental solution, clothes drying with free, otherwise wasted heat.
