Sweden is a nearly cashless society – here’s how it affects people who are left out
"In the cash bubble, you can buy necessities and go to no-frills cafes, but you can’t pay for parking and you can’t pay bills without help. Volunteers at local community groups told us that they spend most of their time doing people’s banking for them.

A Ukrainian refugee, who can’t get a bank account because of their migration status, worried about a bill from the local health clinic that they had no technical means of paying.

Homeless people who sleep in cars can’t use the cashless parking meters, so an illicit market has emerged where people with smartphones and bank accounts pay for their parking at a substantial extra cost. It’s expensive to be digitally poor."

this is interesting: bipolar design allows stacking 10 cells in one battery!

QUOTE:

STAFFORD, Texas, January 09, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Microvast Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MVST) ("Microvast" or the "Company"), a global leader in advanced battery technologies, today announced a significant milestone in the development of its True All-Solid-State Battery (ASSB) technology. This advancement represents a key step forward in improving safety, energy density, and efficiency for critical applications such as data center backup power systems and electric school buses, while also paving the way for future innovations in robotics and other high-demand sectors such as electric vehicles.

Unlike conventional lithium-ion or semi solid-state batteries, Microvast's ASSB utilizes a bipolar stacking architecture that enables internal series connections within a single battery cell. Traditional lithium-ion and semi solid-state batteries, constrained by the limitations of liquid electrolytes, typically operate at nominal voltages of 3.2V to 3.7V per cell.

'Ocean-ologist' Dodderidge : "lowest sea ice for 7.5 billion years". As planet only supposed to be 4.5 billion years old, maybe he meant 7.5 *million*? Hehe, anyone can be out by a factor of 1000, right? And it was lower in 1966!
Oh dear, must be Funding time, kerching

(Are they using the old UK billion, or the new one, or the US one? Haha, good old Harold Wilson https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn04440/ )

If you are referring to the documentary that I linked to and recommended the other day about Britain's Grooming Gangs, by Charlie Peters - I found that when googling the topic of Grooming Gangs after it took over the front pages of many newspapers.
I understand all that, but the problem i have with the likes of GB news, and daily mail, and fish face farage is the prefix they put onto it. They imply the grooming gangs are all Muslim, so what they are implying is ALL Muslims are guilty by association.

They've ignored the dozen or so other grooming gangs who were white British, or the horrific and institutionalized abuse that went on in the religious boarding schools, care facilities and hospitals by the Catholic church.
This latter example has gone on for maybe a century affecting tens of thousands of children, but not once have I heard them refer to these as Catholic grooming gangs.

If GB news, fish face etc used the term 'Catholic grooming gang' there would be plenty of counters stating not all catholics are abusers etc, but by saying 'Muslim grooming gang' they are implying the exact same thing, but are receiving no counters.

Every time i see a case in the papers im on, i add the comment - 'Looks christian to me', or 'clearly white British' and I get a lot of thumbs down for putting it in such a way.

The rhetoric GB news is EXACTLY the same as the rhetoric put out in 1930/40's Germany against the Jews. in that they are blaming one group for all the ills the country is facing.

But GB news isnt an actual news channel, they are a right wing propaganda 'entertainment' channel.
GB news - owned by millionaires
Reform - Owned/staffed by millionaires
DM/Express/Spectator - Owned by millionaires

The goal of the above is for a far right government, because a right wing government will give them tax breaks and allow them to evade anything else tax wise in offshore accounts, which themselves are owned by the ultra rich, and staffed by their associates.

And the best way to get that type of government is to get the voter to follow a line.
Reform is doing well in the polls, because their affiliated press is over reporting anyone not white christian British and under reporting anyone who is white christian British. The public are being directed towards a government who will be extremist on law and order.

I've been wondering about this trust fund thing., but because im on lifelong disability, i would lose all benefits.
However, if my inheritance was put in a trust fund, the trust fund pays living expenses, holidays etc, a home to live in(i think?) but im not sure if it gives an income as in weekly/monthly amount.
So for me its a bit of a flip up. full amount, but no benefits income, or trust fund but no freedom to do what i want.

I really need legal advice on this to understand the full ins and outs of it. But you know what we're like for putting things off until its too late.

You have either chosen to ignore the arguments that I made about the particular monstrous nature of the Pakistani grooming gang crimes, or you have not understood them.

I already explained why they were especially serious - AS HAVE MANY JUDGES in their sentencing remarks.

For example (WARNING - this is hideous) read all of it, but if you can't do that, read paragraph 53.

If you can not see that THIS is so far worse than the vile, fiddling priest, or the many horrible family members abusing children, then there is something wrong with you. The sentences show how grave these offences are.

Andy - you constantly MINIMISE these cases to support your own political stance. My harsh judgement of these or any such cases is purely on their gravity. The judge did the same thing. Many judges have done.

These kinds of hideous cases are repeated up and down the country. The scale of this abuse is both MASSIVE in terms of the numbers of rapes and in the gravity of the crimes in terms of their individual hideousness.

NEVER did I say that all Pakistanis are involved, or guilty. I specifically said above here that there is a sub culture among our Pakistani and Afghan migrant populations who are doing this.

In Rotherham One Pakistani man in 73 has been actually CONVICTED of these kinds of grooming / prostitution gang offences. Bear in mind that police have always said there were many more involved but that they could not be identified with the clarity required for conviction.

It is indisputable that the culture of these communities is misogynistic in the extreme. Taliban attitudes are not confined to present day Afghanistan Andy. The Baradari system (*1) creates a sense of impunity through cover up. This is true whether or not we have excellent Pakistani origin and Afghan origin doctors and professors who are exemplary citizens.

Furthermore - under pressure we see this now -

It is a matter of national shame that it took the lunatic oaf, Musk to push Labour to where it is going now.

By the way - I have NEVER and WILL NEVER vote for reform or Farage. I despise Musk and the influence he buys.

I already told you I don't use GB news as my go to information source. It is generally shabby and badly done.

The two sentences above do not mean that Musk can never be right or that Charlie Peters can not produce an excellent documentary for GB News. I despise much of what I see in the Guardian, but I read it regularly and SOMETIMES I see excellent journalism there among the dross from the likes of Toynbee and Grace.

People with closed minds and circumscribed information sources, are destined to be wrong.

You regularly mischaracterise me just as you do these offences.

It's already here long before the end of the year:

My new price from 1st April is 29.484 pence per unit.

Plus a standing charge of 41.66 pence per day. The odd number endings are because they include the VAT.
.
We are on economy 7, night charge is 10.37 p / kw therefore to charge 500 watt battery cost is
About 5p.
Also with reference to previous post?, when out camping an E car is great for charging an E-bike.

Great forum , by the way
