I hate the use of distorting graphs like that.

The Y axis is truncated making the variations look much bigger than they are. In fact the variation only amounts to 15%, although because of the trickery it looks massive.

This is a ploy often used by politicians and activists to make a point. nevertheless, the technique is a deliberate distortion.

I'm not particularly in favour of increasing income disparity but I am in favour of the truth and avoiding distortion to make a point.

Copernicus: 2024 virtually certain to be the warmest year and first year above 1.5°C
This is how you know it's all a load of shite. Remember all those headlines a few years ago when every country and region was warming up twice as much as the rest of the world? They can't help themselves can they?

Does anybody remember the summers of 1975 and 1976? I went to go fishing in the River Wey in Guildford then, but when I arrived there was no water in it. It was just a giant empty trench. Today, it's flooding that's the problem.

The movement to swear off men: No sex. No dating. No marriage. No children.

"In the hours following former President Donald Trump’s election victory, Google searches related to 4B — a fringe South Korean feminist movement that made a name for itself in the mid to late 2010s — surged in the United States."

"“Young men expect sex, but they also want us to not be able to have access to abortion,” Thomas told The Post. “They can’t have both. Young women don’t want to be intimate with men who don’t fight for women’s rights; it’s showing they don’t respect us.”"

Since the rate of warming is much faster over land than oceans / seas and most of the world is covered in water, then most places on land will warm faster than the global average

Its actually not that surprising since 68% of the planet is ocean. I know two ocean areas are mentioned, but oceanic areas would as I am sure you will agree, warm more slowly because of the specific heat of water taking much longer to rise in temperature than land does. Clearly the mean global temperature rise will impact land more than water because water takes so long to heat up.

Temperature is a KNOWN measure. I said a week or so ago, every part of the planet is scanned every day more than once by a fleet of satellites. Nasa ones, esa ones, Chinese ones and others. Mean global temperature is warming up. The only question is how much will it impact our lives and another might be, what do we need to change about how we do things to make sure it doesn't bother us too much? Homo-sapiens is by design a tropical animal. That is why during my walk that I just got back from, I was wearing four layers including a nice warm coat, because in spite of the 1.3 degrees C mean global temperature rise that I KNOW has happened, I was still quite chilly until the exercise warmed me up enough to counteract the chilly east wind.

And how will we feed ourselves when all our fields are hosting solar farms?

The uk is already very far from self sufficient in food production.
This is one of the actual threats of e-cars, rather than the many false ones. We already have a some multi unit charging stations with large fields alongside or close by, covered with solar panels to supplement the station's panels and battery banks.

As I was saying in another context (inequality) there is a lot of distorting graph and chart work being used to make a point. I think it amounts to a form of statistical dishonesty. This map referenced in your post, uses shading to indicate , 'Warmer than Average', Much Warmer than Average,' and 'Warmest'. These dictate the rather frightening looking colours in the shading, but they give NO IDEA AT ALL of exactly how much warming (or how little) is involved.

This sort of thing is advocacy - not science. Proper science and statistics would tell you exactly how much temperature had changed and what the probability of the result being due to chance is.

Another important thing that is actually very difficult to find out is what the absolute figure is for the mean temperature of the planet.

All the data is given in terms of temperature anomaly. This is the measured difference from the period chosen for establishing the rise.

In fact that actual value for the current mean global temperature is 15c.

This number is not frightening enough since it's pretty cool, so you will find if you start searching for the absolute value that it is pretty hard to find.

This graph might put the current mean global temperature into a longer term perspective. We are at the extreme right of the line obviously.

So in fact, the current mean global temperature is VERY much cooler than it was for most of the last 500 million years.

Why did they have to make so many headlines about it, when you all say it's normal and easily explained? Checkmate!

Did you watch the flood in Valencia last weekend? It should worry all of us.
Water around the balearic Islands got heated for months. Clouds with a lot more water than in previous years collided with cold air in the jetstream dumped a year worth of rain in 8 hours onto baked soil. The rain water turns into a water wave several meters high streaming through towns and villages.
If anyone doubts climate change is a real thing, try at least to understand the physics.

For the vast majority of that time, humans didn't exist. Global Warming isn't a problem for the Earth, it's a problem for humans i.e. speed of the current warming and where people live

trumps going to dump the green deal crap for cheap fuel so no matter what we do it will mean nothing bar everything costing more and paying more tax for it because that's the plan.

a corporation only cares about 3 things money power and control, human beings and earth are disposable for profit.

just like the dwp they have no duty of care to its customers/ ngo provider slaves for profit :p

No hockey stick in 1999..
It's cooler than the 1930's.
Thought they'd binned all these old, accurate graphs, haha :)

'Little Ice Age'?, 1650 to 1700ish. What happened then? No camp fires for 50yrs maybe, hehe.

Greenies better not look at medieval warm period either then, c900 to c1300. Coz there's no industry to explain it!

Can't have that wine in England, can we, meanie greenies? :)
