You really MUST know that businesses set their prices to ensure a suitable level of dividends. If CT is raised, the prices rise to ensure that the owners and shareholders still retain their income. This is an absolute FACT.

Raising the Employers NI contribution will have two effects. It will put a restraint on employing new people and it will raise prices. This is not rocket science. It is one of the reasons why a few years back we had so many French people working in London. My brother has lived full time in FRance since the 1970s. The tax on employing anyone is huge. He certainly was very concerned at the costs of employing new people.

The idea that business owners are rich fat cats sitting on bags of money is Labour cant. You ought to know that as a business owner yourself. All costs have to be passed on to customers or the business becomes non-viable.

By the way that trope about conservative governments handing money to rich donors is utter trash. They generally do things because tehy believe it will work better. As for rich donors, can you remind me how much money Starmer and his team have PERSONALLY taken from Lord Ali and others?

It's a bit rich to talk about donors with what has just been going on. Lord Ali bought himself a free pass to Downing Street and he did it with money that went onto the back of Starmer and his team in nice clothes specs and concert tickets for the PERSONAL enrichment of Starmer, Rayner and others. As for Rayner she DEFINITELY dodged capital gains tax on her house sale. Whatever weasel words she used to escape prosecution we all know that she sold an ex council house while she had been living in her husband's house. Boris was a disorderly, unprincipled wretch, but he was pilloried about using a loan from a donor to redecorate Downing Street. He paid that back and always intended to, but there was a hue and cry about that. Starmer has had about a hundred grand in perks from Ali.
All the small businesses are very little affected by the tax changes announced today..
You have to pay £150k+ in payroll a year to be affected by employers national insurance, turn in a pretty healthy profit to be affected by CT change.

Nonsense. This is total rubbish.

The Internet allows crazy people to manufacture nonsense that appeals to idiots and the ignorant. They then spread it, recruiting an army of fools.

That video is ignoring the fact that NASA has satellite data for the whole planet since the mid 1970s. There are several satellites measuring IR temperature recordings multiple times a day for every part of the planet. The data from the sensors is calibrated carefully and they agree with one another.

WHY would NASA falsify data? To suggest it is absolute madness. An army of dedicated, highly qualified scientists devise and create fantastic technology which can sense and map planets millions of miles away, put long lasting robotic rovers on Mars which crawl about sampling rocks and performing absolute miracles of research and send back the data. They have meticulously monitored our own planet, guide us on our satnav devices to an accuracy of a few feet, and provide pin point accuracy for weapons systems, but that buffoon who made that video thinks they can't measure the temperature of the earth.

There is absolutely no doubt that the planet is slowly warming up. There is doubt about how bad it will get though, and it is my belief (it can only be 'belief' because we do not know) that it will not be as bad as many people think. I wrote a long post the other day about it above here.

The stupidity of this conspiracy nonsense is beyond annoying. Of course - it will find support on here... Disgusting stupidity.

the problem is those who don't believe global warming happens don't believe climate scientists.

Still, here are their general findings:
CO2: contributes 76% to global warming through green house effect
Methane: 16%
NO2/NO: 2%
Flkuorines: 2%
Other sources: 4%

We have to reduce the rapid growth of emissions to give time to scientists to develop more sustainable solutions.
Who do those climate scientists work for?

I must confess since you probably already know that NASA does not work for the American People, but for the confederation of Aliens that has been arranged by Bill Gates, Sorros and and the Jews and that their mission is to abuse their position to feed us lies so they can enslave us all by contaminating vaccines with sterilising drugs. Ultimately, as we die out, the aliens will take over

You know, until I was got at by the Illuminati, I used to think they were just the world's pre-eminent engineers and scientists who were exploring the use of space and space technologies to discover facts about the universe to expand our knowledge and well-being. Silly me... I should have known better and that it is all just a giant conspiracy.

And don't forget the energy needed to compress all that gas. It is pretty huge.
Yes, exactly, there are loads of comparisons that take in the whole energy life cycle. The most inefficient you can make an ev is running it on coal based electricity (not that that applies in the UK) and every study I have seen shows it is still more (well to wheel) efficient that a petrol based internal combustion car. When you substitute coal for gas there is a big difference

Fleas can't survive without the dog.
Actually they can. They can live for 100years in their pupa stage. Their life cycle starts when a flea laden with eggs jumps off the dog and lays its eggs in the carpet or sofa. The lavae hatch, then feed on houshold dust (mainly old skin). When they're ready to pupate, they climb into any crevice , pupate, then wait however long it is until the next host comes along, which would be any hairy animal, including you.

It's not easy to get to the bottom of it, but a modern petrol car with a small turbocharged or direct injection engine is 40% efficient at the crankshaft.

CCGT generators are up to max of 60% at the turbine. At the power socket, 10% is lost in transmission, so now 50%. Lost in charging up to another 10% at the battery, so now 40%. THen we have the motor inefficiency maybe another 10% and that's being generous, so we are at 30% gas turbine combuster to EV wheel.

It isn't as clear cut as people would like to think IF the power is not wind and solar. Then you have another set of figures relating to building and recycling wind mills and solar panels.

I'm all ion favour of EVs and green power.

If you just take tank to wheel efficiency for a small modern petrol car, over a typical range of driving, I've never seen anything like 40% - the highest I have seen is 28% for "motorway" type driving at 60mph and more like 10-13% on urban cycles - averaging 16-20% over typical cycles. I can't believe there are any petrol cars that average anywhere near 40% T2W efficiency for a typical range of driving
