Got my new controller and LCD and I have brought a throttle with this one so hopefully that might make things a little better. Is there anything I should do or shouldn't do before I message at what stage I'm at. (Apart from don't blow this one up) do i have to change anything in the settings etc etc
You're jumping ahead again instead of starting from a point of certainty. You didn't do any tests to find out what was wrong and you can't tell us what you did, which is weird to say the least, but if we accept all that, you need to start by measuring the battery voltage coming to the controller on the thick black and red wires before connecting the new controller.

I haven't disconnected anything yet mate I'm going up in a minute to have a look at it.

When you order the next one, make it a KT!

In the meantime, check the voltage on each wire before you touch it to any other one!

Checked battery voltage 41.34 volts
Checked voltage going to display 0 volts
Checked voltage at V Crank sensor 0 volts
Checked voltage at throttle plug 0 volts

At the battery and at the joining plug at the controller
The battery wires go into the controller and branch to the LCD, so if the voltage goes in, there's not really anything to stop it from coming out unless you shorted one of them and blew it's connection, in which case you should be able to open the controller and solder it back to the PCB, or you can cut the thin red and black wires to the pcb and connect them directly to the battery wires. Alternatively, using your meter on continuity (beep) or resistance, you can measure between the thin and thick red , then the thin and thick black to see which one is broken.

Gents I tried the old controller and display yesterday I haven't done anything to it i have only replaced the crank sensor so it looks like that was the original fault (I hope and I think) is it possible to fit this throttle to my old controller it has 2 3 pin plugs which aren't used a grey, red and black and a green, red and black but the wires in the plug are different in position.

If it's got a block connector, the pins are held in with little barbs. Use something pointy to hold down the barb while you pull the pin out with the wire, then swap them over. Don't forget that throttles are illegal if they give more than 4 mph without pedalling. Out of the commonly available controllers, only the KT can have a throttle set to work only while pedalling.
