What bits aren't you happy with ? a +ve thing - it's nice not to have those velcro straps wrapping all over the frame tubes !Well, I've decided I'm not as good as making things as D8veh is so I've ordered a triangle bag from Paul instead.
Here's what what I ended up with - as above, I'm not happy with it so when the bag arrives it'll all get ripped out again.
To me it looks home made. I know that sounds odd seeing as it is but still, it's not the result I had in my head when I was planning it.What bits aren't you happy with ?
Better?Put some decals on it, and it'll look beautiful.
Yeah, I'd had that though as well - here is battery mount v2:-Just one comment though: I'd put a triangle of polystyrene in the bottom corner of the box to hold the batteries horizontal. It's not good to take the weight on a corner. Go over a big bump and it might be a bit more than a triangle bag you need. Small risk, but high consequences.
It was just too "home made" for my liking - I know that sounds odd as it is home made but I'm sure you get my drift. The small photos on here didn't really show the minor defects I kept seeing every time I went out to the bike. Why you don't like the enclosure?
It look much more professional to my eyes and more integrated to the bike with the same black colour
Too hot. After running in the enclosure even with the air feed it was too hot to touch (I was doing lost of standing starts whilst tuning the cruise control though). So it needs the air flow. I am pulling 1800 watts from it though. I'm not going to be deliberately riding in the rain (I'm retired now so no need to) and it's pretty water resistant anyhow with the rubber gaskets. Can't you get the controller in the bag too ? Surely must be much more weatherproof in there .. and much shorter cable runs to both batteries and motor ?
I agree - but not in the flesh. I should have taken some higher res pics - bit late now as the box got burnt in the chiminea tonight. In the photos, the box looks better to me.
