40% of the economy of the Channel Islands are from financial services, read tax haven and offshoring if you will. Current moves from the EU against companies offshoring their profit to such places will squeeze their importance.
Similar to Luxembourg being run by a certain mr Juncker

Brexit or not, most of the new migrants will be born outside the EU.
Brexit is in my view a hammer to crack a nut, but I still vote out because I think unless people can see that we are on the road of becoming the sick man of Europe again, this problem is not going to go away.

I don't think that any reasonable person feels that immigration should be stopped altogether. We as a country should always welcome it, but we should be able to control it and only take in people who contribute. The ones who gain from uncontrolled mass movement are the big businesses who have a ready source of labour, and if you don't like the conditions there are plenty more. I believe that without it you would not have the zero hour contracts which places like Sports Direct use. So in a way for all the bleating about it Labour are responsible with their policy designed to change Britain

3.6% of UK residents are born outside the UK and in the EU, 7.7% are born outside the EU. Total 11.3% of UK population are born outside the UK. Quite a lot of those 7.7% and some of the 3.6% have become UK citizens over time. The number/percentage of 'foreigners' is much smaller and unlikely to change much after Brexit. That's why I think Brexit is a hammer to crack a nut.

I'm hearing in the news that Sadiq Khan's mask has slipped more than just a little. He seems to posses a degree of contempt for members of the moderate, hard working and socially integrated Muslim community. These are the sort of people we want aren't they? Why would he take this view?

He's also a three times expenses cheat. Totally unfit for anything except lavatory cleaning on an unpaid voluntary basis.

Tillson, I see all politicians as wily, so I won't comment on Sadiq or Zac or Ken or Boris but I think our systems are pretty robust against corrupted and corrupting politicians. Whoever is going to be the new mayor of London on Thursday, there is the London Assembly. Personally, I don't like billionaires getting into politics. There is a perceived increased risk that they have too many friends involved with property development.

More desperate smears in one of the dirtiest campaigns in years.

Sadiq is facing a two way attack. One is a blatantly racist attack by the Conservatives, the other smears from Labour MPs who are using him as a trojan horse to get rid of Jeremy Corbyn. Obviously those labour MPs don't like the democracy that voted Jeremy Corbyn into office, preferring instead to be pseudo conservatives in order to win elections.

It's precisely the very obvious unfairness and blatant racism of this two pronged assault that's led us to swing Sadiq well into the lead. Hopefully he'll win tomorrow, teaching those who rely on lies and dirty tricks that they don't pay.

This is no different to the smear tactics used against UKIP. Tactics which I'm sure that Sadiq Khan would be more than content to use. The only difference being that UKIP candidates have the good grace to stand down at the slightest hint of anything which may damage the party. So as far as Sadiq is concerned, you reap what you sow I'm afraid.

Even though Khan is totally unfit for public office, I don't believe this will deter the London majority population. My guess is that suitability for office is not a factor that they consider.

I think London will get the Mayor they deserve tomorrow.

I think London will get the Mayor they deserve tomorrow.
A history lesson. The smears that are being used against Sadiq now are similar to those that were used against Ken Livingstone and a black assistant to prevent him becoming London Mayor for a third time. The Tories had realised that after Ken's hugely successful record in office, legitimate campaigning could never succeed. Since simple denial is no use against persistent lies, Ken reported himself to the Metropolitan Police, asking them to investigate the allegations throroughly, since they alleged criminality.

After a long investigation the Met reported that they found no evidence whatsoever for any of the allegations. Of course by then the damage was done and the devious Boris Johnson had been elected. Johnson them went on to four times appoint his friends to key roles in the GLC, but all four soon had to go, mainly due to their criminality being exposed and in part due to utter incompetence. Such was the company Johnson kept.

Most of us in London don't want to go down this street again

Of the two main candidates now, many of us prefer to vote in Sadiq Khan, simply because we're unwilling to support a candidate who accepts smears and lies being use to support his campaign. Frank Zacharius Goldsmith has been a chump for allowing such tactics, since I believe he is by instinct a sincere man.

Which democratic system is this? Is it the one where a party secures 12.6% if the vote and those voters are then represented by 1 MP, whilst anther party secures only 4.7% of the vote and those voters are then represented by 56 MPs?

Or is it the democratic process where the party who has the biggest proportion of MEPs and who also forced the EU referendum is then sidelined in debate over EU membership?

I am of course talking about UKIP and if any of their candidates had done a fraction of what Khan has done, they would have been hounded and victimised by the media. Also, they would do the decent thing and stand down.

As I say, if Londoners vote that Khan into office they will thoroughly deserve what follows.

The difference here being that Khan has been recorded on video footage for all to see and to make a decision on.

I still don't think the man is fit for public office. Too many question marks over him.

No, I'm speaking of the Labour party's democratic system for electing a leader which elected Jeremy Corbyn. As so often happens, those who claim to be democrats don't like the results it brings.

I fully agree about the UKIP position, their lack of fair representation is a disgrace.

As I say, if Londoners vote that Khan into office they will thoroughly deserve what follows.
I look forward to it and hope he wins. We were told the same lies about Ken Livingstone, but he became the best and most effective leader London has ever had in its entire history.

If Sadiq Khan doesn't measure up, we'll throw him out, the mayoralty period is short. And as remarked earlier, the system doesn't permit abuse of any real degree before detection. Lutfur Rahman, one time mayor of Tower Hamlets borough discovered that when swiftly removed from office following exposure of his electoral corruption.
