It's not a Panasonic battery though
Who make these batteries then Tim? Are you able to say how inexpensive they will be, what sort of guarntee they carry and when they will be available?

Hi Tilson,

Derby Cycle Werke have been working with European battery giants BMZ on these batteries. On a recent trip to the factory I was more than impressed with their testing and QC failities in-house. Worlds apart from some other manufacturers I have seen!

Thanks for the info. Scott / Lloyd. Seriously, these new 18 Ah batteries sound very interesting. I'll look forward to hearing more about them in due course.

I see this as very good news. An 18 Ah battery that is compatible with so many models is surely a good thing, whether it is produced by Panasonic or not.:)

18ah is great for range but will it still need replacing as regular? If so it may be false economy. Less charge cycles due to the increased capacity doesn't neccesarily mean a longer life.

This is interesting news for me as I have just reserved a BH Emotion Sport Max at 2000 € ! After a quick google search, it seems that a Kalkhoff Agattu Pedelec C 8-speed 18ah model 2011 will be available in Sep-Oct for the same price - I assume other Kalkhoff models e.g. 9G Deore LX will also be available with the 18ah battery at a similar price. It was a close call between the Kalkhoff and the BH to start with and greater autonomy was one of my main criteria so what the hell do I do now ? It had already taken me nearly 6 months to decide on the BH
