Keeping A Secret

If he told you, then I'd expect he didn't think it would remain a secret for very long. The problem is you've named your source, and should have used the old journalist trick of making public anything classed as "off the record" ie. "A source close to 50cycles has said......". So if we all pretend to forget the last three pages, and you delete your original post, I think you can probably tell us...go on, you know you want to....:D .

I'd expected Tim at 50Cycles to fill everyone in - I'm sure he will. He had to go to Germany so maybe when he's back.
So that was the secret then - Tim was going to Germany, and when he's back he'll tell everybody that he went.

Well, since there has been no further word on it, I can only presume that it hasn't happened. So I've kept a secret that wasn't. It was quite exciting for a bit!

Basically, it was a battery the same size and fit as the Panasonic but packing an 18ah capacity. I'd thought of two ways of using it, one to extend the range of my bike to (30/10)*18 - 54 miles minimum - or using it as the car makers do, charging to 80% and discharging to 20% thus potentially giving it a long, long life.

But such a battery struck me as being a game changer for many people. It would mean someone living outside the M25 would have battery power for the return journey of maybe 40 miles and some in hand.

With a tiny bit of care, you could do a 30 mile return commute or 60 miles day touring, as much as the old backside would take anyway and all under power.

But.............:(

Now that would be exactly what I want. It would certainly make a huge difference, to the point where it could be, as you say, a game changer. Let's hope it comes true (mind you - at what cost?).:D

An 18 Ah battery that slots into my Pro Connect and works without any mods needed, with the same charger, and only costs a little more than the 10 Ah battery would be perfect!

OK, beans spilt. Biggest battery capacity on the market, inexpensive and, most importantly, back-compatible with every Kalkhoff electric bike we sell now and have ever sold.

If there's one message we want to get across about Kalkhoff it's this: they are super-serious about producing the all-round best electric bikes on the market, bar none, and looking after all their customers. They have the R&D, QC and buying power to match their intention.

The new range looks very interesting. The pro connect has a USB port to power your phone/gps. And the dl looks very nice though I'm not sure how much is carbon or what it weighs. Looks nice though.

Well, the secret regarding Kalkhoff and Panasonic batteries was not the one I was informed about, so that came as a surprise to me.

No, "a very reliable source", let me in on something else that is coming from Kalkhoff in 2011, and it is not Panasonic powered:eek:
I guess it is not very secret anymore as it can be seen in the following link http://www.om23.de/cms/images/stories/Pressemappe_Kalkhoff_Bike_Expo.pdf

OMG, which Kalkhoff will I buy next;)
