How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

You're not suggesting Eddie undergoes a particularly harsh leg wax after that first picture are you soundwave?Look at the brake caliper and rear shock. Cooking tonight. The only dry parts of the bike. I'm surprised by just how warm that the rear shock gets.

I did have to strip off and use the hose pipe. That is one routine that I don't like in mid January.
I can't say that I missed the water running down the crack of the backside after 12 miles either. I'd also forgotten just how good that my Shimano Goretex cycle boots are, but equally how poor that they perform when you stand shin deep in water, in a tractor made rut. You then have your own swimming pool inside the boot, as the water can't escape. Happy Days.

The stock set up works perfectly, so I'm not about to go spending money just for the sake of change. Everything about the bike is perfect for my use.
Normally I would have cleaned, lubed and gone over the whole bike before putting away, but as I intend to strip and fully service it tomorrow, I thought that I'd leave it to show the very fine and abrasive sandy conditions that I have here. Riding three to four evenings each week in these conditions when it gets wet, explains why I eat chains at such a rapid rate. Back to sintered pads again tomorrow for the same reason.

Soundwave, have you been putting treacle on your chain and sprockets?
Loose the cable tie. With proper maintenance the linkages won't come loose. Whilst for whatever misguided reason German Pedelec forum users think that it's smart to fit a cable tie, it isn't. You won't be aware of when it starts to loosen, the movement created between the threads won't be noticed, the movement will increase with wear, then all that will happen is that you will strip the thread, and the swingarm will be scrap.
Do the job properly. Buy a torque wrench and correct thread lock. Carrying out correct maintenance checks aside, If it still bothers you, another tip is just to add a small blob of tipex/correction fluid across the bolt and frame. That way, it is plainly obvious if there is movement, as the seal between the two is broken.
I can't imagine why Haibike never thought of fitting cable ties to every linkage. I guess that they thought it might put buyers off. Or perhaps they just thought that routine maintenance would stop any issue from happening.

lol gave it a good clean and got all the gunk off it and all ok now.
think its time for a new chain anyway done 700 miles with it.
also want rid of the quick release axles as pita. got any ideas????

The weather has been really nice over here and I have found a nice 40 km route combining gravel roads and single track.
I woke up 6am on Sunday morning, filled my thermos with coffee and hit the road.
First stop after 12km gravel road. I had my morning coffee here. No one else except couple of guys fly fishing:
Next up is 13km of technical single track. It was nice and DRY! Had to some weight lifting here :-D
The the last 15km gravel again with second pit stop and a small snack at a farm. You can see my new tiny Garmin Edge 20 cycling GPS on the left side of the Intuvia display:
I recently bought a Garmin Edge 20 strictly for navigation and used it first time on this ride. Worked pretty well, I didn't have to keep checking my phone for route anymore. Couple of times I got lost from the track, but I really liked how Garmin shows where the track is related to my location. It made navigation so much easier in crisscross of trails. It's just a pain to upload the routes to the Edge 20.
First time I had problems with the bike as well. First Error 503 (speed sensor error), but that was quickly fixed. Later in the ride I wondered what's stinging my hand and soon figured out that it was electricity. Current was bleeding from the battery to the frame and from there to the metallic bar end plug. I removed the battery and cleaned connectors and the problem went away. Only thing that worries me that this happened on a dry ride. I hope it won't happen again.
