How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Hi Rob,

The bike itself was superb, unfortunately the BionX system was not. Just for info, Rose do still produce ebikes although I think all have Bosch centre motor systems. I'm glad you're happy with your bike, I only wish the drive on mine had been as good as the bike.

Pumped up the fat tires as it was time for a road trip. Round trip to my sister to meet relatives and have a BBQ. Total 115km, 4:44 hours, average speed 24.2km/h. Eco all the way except on a few bigger hills. I've done this on my cyclocross bike a few times, and according to Strava travel time was pretty much the same. I won on hilly areas but lost on flat road, not really surprising.

On my way there it started to rain heavily for an hour and I got soaked. A bit of headwind too. Cycled 60km, 1542m elevation, with 2/5 battery left (est. 30 km left)
Way back dry and no wind, 55km, 3/5 battery and 54km left.

No problems with the bike. A quick wash, chain lube and battery charge at my sis.

Nothing in this universe beats a hot sauna after a wet and cold ride!

On my way back a bit different route, including few stretches of gravel road.

I have ridden around Koupio and Siilinjarvi areas of Finland and was there in June for a confirmation.
Love the climate and the way the people want to talk to you in English - but hate the Finish Air force - the Mosquito - man the are viscous and seem to prefer the foreign blood.

Rather you than me :-D I hear it's pretty bad year mosquito wise (no wonder as it has been so wet), but they are not much of a problem down south at the coast where I live.

New to the site and just purchased a Haibike last week.

I've done around 50 miles on it over the weekend and really enjoyed it off road. Bit boring on road as feels like a big lump to get over 16mph when i'd otherwise be going a bit faster on my non-ebike.

Can't wait to get out on it again.

I can't believe how many people complain about them handling like a whale over 16mph lol . Personally it doesn't bother me much if I want to go fast il pedal like a loony going down hill top speed so far 38.5mph downhill on sduro hardnine rc.

A bit faster than me (36mph) but if you are speeding on Tarmac you do need to have the tyres inflated to suit.

Soft is ok on the dirt, it's bound to wallow a bit on a soft tyre.

The handling is fine, I just mean on a flat road I'd have a higher average speed on my non-ebike....it obviously more than makes up for it when the gradient gets steeper and results in a higher average speed overall.

I've noticed personally I sit around 16.5-17mph after the motor has cut out where as it would be higher usually.

Plenty more climbing this evening, with very scary down hill thrown in for good measure! Ride on Strava: http://app.strava.com/activities/346040757 Some of the down hill sections were tarmac, with fine gravel spread over the top. I also had the rear of the bike try to overtake the front end a couple of times on what felt near verticle rock sections. Not nice with a 500 metre plus drop on one side. I suspect that my riding skills are really going to improve over the next week or so.

Thought thst my time had come tonight. A tree saved me from falling several hundred metres. I lost my phone though, and spent about half an hour slowly climbing down a bank to find it. All because I got lost!

Haven't you seen what he packs in his rucksac? I'm surprised he doesn't need 2 already! Where's he going to fit the parachute?

yup use my cyclotricity revolver on light offroad stuff...forest trails and such... and onroad mostly but the revolver has done three years 1000 miles plus of light use and still going strong...is a bit lightweight for it and am considering something slightly more capable. ..but loving it ..would like a little more torque and distance and better forks... maybe oxygen or volt mtb type ...just about affordable..kind of dream of haibike sduro hard 7 hardtail crank drive .
of the 3 I mention any opinions for 70% on road and 30% offroad use ?

Just got back from a great week Gran Canaria made all the better by being able to rent an eBike from an outfit called "free motion" for 23euros a day I rented a Cannondale with a Bosch motor. The bike was fine on tarmac but also took it down some steep rocky trails for which the town bike wasn't well suited but made the rides pretty interesting! Anyhow the bike and myself made it back in one piece. I was in the south of the Island and all rounds are seriously uphill and the bike was great on two trips I climbed 2500ft in 12 miles using std. and sport mode. The trip back down was really quick. I plan to return there in December and would like to take my Haibike sduro rather than rent an xduro RX for 35eutos a day. Is there any way round the battery on a plane problem?

I visited a friend yesterday and rode some new trails on the shore line until I hit the end of the trail. It's funny where those big tires take me.



And todays morning commute. I know what I'm going to do tonight - clean my bike :-D
