This one had my hands and feet sweating the first time that I watched it, and also kind of links to what is below it. The clip carries on past the end credits.

Via Instagram, I've been having brief contact with an e-mtb rider from Switzerland, and this has lead to me wanting him to take me out on a few rides when I'm there in July.

If it happens, I might need to up my game a bit!

I used to have a very good head for heights, and have been both a tree surgeon, and also completed years of rock climbing, but my head for heights has significantly waivered over the last few years.

Thank God! I was beginning to think you were a superhero! I mean extreme biking, sculpture, haute cuisine!

Welcome to the club. In my younger days I stopped in the Pyreneans (first road on the right after Andorra) to satisfy a natural need. I stepped through some bushes and found myself on a rock ledge with not much going on below for the next 400 metres or so. Unphased. Recently a walk along the cliffs much lower had me sweating.

I think that everything changed for me, 17 years ago when my daughter was born.
I get within ten feet of a drop these days, and I get that horrible feeling go up through the legs.

Two years running, I've bigged up doing the via ferrata at Murren, and two years running have walked down to the 48 second point of this clip without safety gear on, and just thought, sod that.
I'd hate to start the route, freeze, and than have to have someone risk their own life to get me off.

I've no doubt that I'll do just the same this year as well. :D

Jeb Corliss is also a big hero of mine. I'd so love to be able to feel that sense of utter freedom from anything.

Welcome Darren. :)

There are several of us that ride independently of each other on the SD.

I try to get down there as much as possible, but as you are aware, conditions haven't exactly been too favourable of late.

This is a typical ride.

Hi, Thanks for the message. I know a fair amount of that area, it's generally where I play. Has been pretty heavy going up there lately. Be great to meet up for a ride along a section sometime. Happy riding :)

Coming from Crowborough, I tend to head out from the Willingdon, Alfriston, or Ditchling area. SRS is probably the closest, off road riding forum member to where you are.

My rear suspension goodie bag arrived today. I forgot to order it! Time to crack back on again with the service work. :)

Non e-bike related, but worthy of watching. :)

I get out that way sometimes, everywhere is closer since discovering off-road ebike. I'll keep an eye out for SRS :)
Call me lazy or missing out but I tend to stick to single pivot set ups for pure ease of service. Santa Cruz Superlight/Heckler/Blur all lend themselves well I find and I really like how they ride.
All the best for a smooth sus overhaul.
Cheers
Darren

I wouldn't say lazy or missing out. Full suspension is a bit of a waste of time at this time of year. All that you do is create unnecessary maintenance, cost and hassle. A hard tail is far better for muddy winter use.

Sounds like bitter experience talking. I'm hardtail majority of the time anyway :)

Not bitter experience. :)

It just follows that you can't ride in wet and muddy winter conditions with all of the linkages and moving parts, without there being a grinding paste effect on the bushes.

Like you, I'm also a massive fan of hardtail bikes.

With the Lycan in pieces at the moment, I'm using either my pedal KTM Ultra 1964 off road or my e-Race P on road. The e-Race was bought specifically for chilled road and dry off road use. The more that I ride both, the more that I'm enjoying them. Without doubt FS is perfect for fast dry conditions, and this has been proven to me many a time when I have done back to back Strava comparisons of rides on both types of bike.

For many months now, I have been hassled by someone who wants me to sell the FS Macina. It's too much to give up, but if money was available I'd jump at one of these, keeping the FS bike for the four months of dry weather that we have.

I'd make three changes though. I'd fit clipless pedals, change the gear change cable to a continuous covered one, and swap the Nyon for Intuvia.

Can't see it making any difference for my use. I just get on the bike and ride. :)

The last Strava average ride length mph that you posted up was sub 10mph, so do you really think that a product like that will make a blind bit of difference. I think not.

well it would make your tyres near bomb proof from a total flat tyre i guess but until i can buy it separate im not getting a kit as only want tube outer cover and air guide for the rear wheel.

tho if you did get a kit and it failed thats a £125 flat tyre lol
