Thanks!

Hi Drago, I am delighted you ended up with a Wisper, thanks for the business! However I am worried about your comments on the quality, which components concern you?

All the best and happy cycling!

Hello David
The components just aren't up to the quality of my MTB however the chap at Valley Scooters has obviously reassured me as to there quality and warranty. Hopefully it will live up to the fantastic reputation they have.

Quality

Hi Mike

OK I understand, of course there are better and different components out there, if we were to build the bike out of all the very best cycle components available our bikes would cost a small fortune! However I think we have the right mix.

Enjoy the bike and please keep in touch regarding any improvements you feel could be made.

All the best and thanks again!

A bit late as I've just bought one. The components just aren't up to the quality of my MTB however the chap at Valley Scooters has obviously reassured me as to there quality and warranty. Hopefully it will live up to the fantastic reputation they have.

I found some of the components on my 905 were a bit weak and I'm glad to say that Wisper have changed everything I complained about (on all bikes not just mine). The only part I don't like now is the organic brake pads wear out quickly and I can't find semi sintered versions for that brake disc, luckily replacements only cost me a fiver so it's not a big problem.
I've done about 15,000 miles on my 905 and I still enjoy riding it. Some things you may want to change, I found it a bit high geared for steep hills and the comfort saddle like most gel saddles is not good for long distances but these are impossible to get perfect for everyone.

I have not seen any of these on ebay recently, do you know if they are still being sold.
Hi Fishingpaul,

Yes, they are still in the business, I was chatting to Simon of 720 cycles last week, they apparently have agreed the spec' on a new bike and should have bikes ready for Springtime.

That's good to hear!. My own example of the Rush Trek, "Voyager", was of course stolen last year. Of all the E-bikes I have, or still own, the Rush Trek was the best hill climber of the lot.

The motor fitted was quickly identified by Flecc as that fitted to the EZee Torq 1. What I liked most about the Rush Trek was the very subtle pedelec response, always with me, but never surging ahead in that mad-as-a-box-of-frogs way that so many machines demonstrate.

I have now replaced Voyager with a Tucano Carerra. This is the Spanish cousin of the Rush Trek, excepting the Tucano is fitted with a plain chainwheel as opposed to the torque sensor fitted to the Rush Trek, but still demonstrating the same benign pedelec response of the Rush. This machine was one of those rare bargains that occasionally turn up on Ebay. One year old, confirmed by the Phylion battery date code, £350 plus a 200 mile round trip to collect.

I'm delighted to hear 720cycles will be back on the scene soon, the Rush Trek is a delightful machine to ride and an excellent hill climber

Hi Bob,

Yes I saw the post on your Voyager a few months ago, you certainly made this already good looking bike, look awesome, as far as I am concerned the Rush Trek is an excellent bike. You've got good taste Bob and it's a pitty some lowlife, ----head stole it, did you ever hear anything of the bike?

Hi Mark,
Your machine looks good!.

When Darren at 720cycles heard about the loss of Voyager, he kindly offered to replace it at cost. At that time, I didn't take advantage of the offer as my local beat bobby was pretty sure he would locate Voyager. The two names I gave him were already on the Police radar. Some weeks later he told me the trail had dried up, and he was pretty certain Voyager was out of the County. To be quite honest, I don't think I would want it back now.

I haven't taken any photos of the Tucano yet, but I'm sure it will feature in one of my posts soon.

Best wishes
Bob

Hi Bob,

Nevermind, justice will prevail (Hopefully) in some other way. It'll be nice to see some pics', loved your Ridgeway posts, very interesting. Roll on the good weather, hope you do more bike ride journals this year.

All the best.

Mark.

Hi Chaps! I have always liked these Rush Trek bikes, and I hope they reappear soon. I am considering a kit with a 10 amp battery similar to these I guess.

what kind of range should I expect? I used to get approx 40 miles from 14 amp wisper I fink:)

Shame that 720-Cycles are so "quiet" about their brand, the Rush Trek is indeed a fine machine and would do very well if it was marketed accordingly. There's no website, it takes ages to get an email reply, and the eBay shop is vaguely alive. I wish them good luck with the next shipment, which (if I understand correctly) is a revised specification. :) Cheers, Dan

40 miles from a 14 ah battery equals around 13 w-hrs per mile. A similar level of fitness on a 10 ah battery would give you around 28 miles range.

Deep dis-charging a battery in this way on a regular basis would probably shorten it's life, so it would be better to plan rides of no more than 25 miles. If a longer ride is anticipated, then an extra battery should be carried and the mileage shared between them.

The average energy usage is reckoned to be around 10 w-hrs per mile. In my case, with a slightly dodgy left leg, a twenty mile ride will vary from 9 w-hrs per mile on a good day, to 16 w-hrs on a bad day. I still enjoy my twenty mile ride though.

Electric bikes are great levellers!.

Am I right in thinking that the best ready made bike to achieve the best of both the above is the Wisper 14A?
My commute is 25miles involving crossing the Pennines(2 long climbs each way)
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
I agree Wisper is very good for a hub bike and has proven to be very popular, having sold them now for a couple of years

One of the best bikes on the market for it hill climbing ability is the Yamaha crank drive unit on the Gepida. I have ridden this bike up an incline of 22% with no problem and no erge to stop half way. The new Gepida MTB Sirmium is being launched in the UK March time. I have attached a picture of the new bike.

Nice looking bike....Alfina hub gears? Price and weight would be nice please. Length of warranty and is the warranty transferable if I decide to sell it on? and what is the difference between this and the Panasonic system which is very well established.

A2B thought the Yamaha system had some quirks to its operation and was not as well integrated as the Panasonic system. They thought is was 'Peaky' with an abrupt cutoff at 15mph leading to a strange on off effect when climbing hills, see the July 09 edition...

Hi Eddieo,
The price of the bike is going to be around £1599.00 & the bike weighs in around 22kg and yes the warranty is also transferable if you ever decide to sell it on. The Yamaha system shares a lot of similar characteristics to that of the Panasonic system, some people prefer the Yamaha system and others prefer the Panasonic for different reasons. Each to their own I suppose. They are both very good systems, We do have a dealer network across the country, Where about’s are you?
