A hot water bottle wrapped in a towel placed on top of a fascia corner, could heat glue under that corner, make it soft enough to gently work loose perhaps?

There do seem to be some audiophiles on this forum, who may not visit the "Computers and Stuff" thread - maybe start a new thread? Someone out there is bound to have a good solution to this problem. DON'T MURDER YOUR GENELECS!

You could try heating and cooling cycles, to gently break up the glue by expanding and shrinking metal (ice cubes in a waterproof bag), but with cooling you risk condensation buildup inside the unit, on the other side of the metal fascia...

That laminated chipboard is easy to chip.

ill just have to wait for a really hot day and try it again there not that bad that they need doing asap but thought remove the bolts tip it down and take a look, but not going to happen.

could be just a gasket that has turned to glue they are 20 years old but there is something in there holding it in

Maybe try to jam in an old credit card? Those can bend quite a lot without breaking... you may be able to push it under? Mind you, that could damage the chipboard edge, so maybe try to protect that with gaffa tape and cloth layers?

Can you work some dental floss under a corner and gradually use it to saw through the glue, going under the fascia? That works to remove 3M sticky pads sticking things onto windscreens. Again, first protect the edges of that delicate chipboard laminate with masking tape layers or something - gaffa tape could rip that laminate off.

Best leave it unless absolutely necessary - you may be able to soften the glue using heat, or break it up a bit using heat and cooling cycles... but you risk bending that fascia using force and that would be a total disaster. Sell em while you can? And don't buy another pair of Genelecs...

I'll give you a tenner for the pair ;)

Have you got a thin bradawl? If so, you could insert it into a hole and push the shaft against the metal fascia, side to side, up and down? The bradawl shaft must be thinner than the hole. If you do this with each hole several times, you might eventually get enough lateral movement to loosen the glue? Go easy though, as it would be easy to damage holes in the metal fascia. Just a thought to ponder... (doing what I've suggested will of course foul the internal threads a bit, but at least that's invisible damage, which can be fixed by retapping the holes)

Did you cause that chip in the bottom left hand corner? If not, seems likely someone has tried (at the very least) to get that fascia off using a screwdriver before.

Do those ports either side lead to a space behind the fascia? If so can you find a way to push the fascia out from the inside? Again, you risk bending it.

the top part is a sealed box so no way to get at it from behind ill just have to get some help and take them off the stands pita. and tip them forward and it might fall out on its own.

i never done that damage but looks like they used big screwdrivers last time they was moved as one part has broken away, if i can get the fkn thing out i can glue it back down and get the shoe polish out for the corners.

if you have deep scratches use candle wax to fill the scratch the over it with floor polish then buff it ;)

well i phoned source distribution to speak to a tech guy as the service centre for genelec and said that wave guide is part fkn metal a weighs a fkn ton so best off tipping them on the front and if it still wont move use like that thing above in the bolt holes to pull it away said its a right pita and said no glue or gasket.

Hmmm.... so it's heavy and wedged in by gravity while upright? Throw a mattress underneath to catch it when you tip it over, in case you don't catch it in time to prevent the wires ripping off?
