on balance i agree, but there is a false dichotomy in here somewhere - it's possible to grow ones own food, go offgrid (as SW suggest further down), not get snagged entirely by the system, a snag is claiming benefits or trying to sell power to an energy utility, there are imho better ways to manipulate the collosuswe all pay the price of convenience.
what would you do outside the system? Return to bartering? Soundwave wouldn't be fed any better in a power cut even if he has gold bars in his pocket.
