The recipe is apparently rather simple ... Add methanol . But actually the old food oil will work fine on its own. It needs filtering to remove the water and carbonised food particles , and then could be added to a standard diesel mixture . The older diesel engines were safer as the the newer DCI types have much tighter tolerances . I did it a few times a few years ago, when fresh vegetable oil was very cheap ..that is I added a few litres of pure vegetable oil ,to a tank of diesel not make biodiesel .

I reckon those PV charging points have local storage battery, the PV charges the battery, the battery charges the car with additional supply from the grid.
My 3.6Kw nominal installation has now produced 3.3MW.hrs in approx 1 year, or 9KW.hr per day average. Now maybe last year was untypical , but it still is that value. So 6 Kw you quote is a low number. However the fact that one needs the car during the hours of sunshine, destroys any economics, as powerwalls or battery storage are expensive
they are coming down rapidly in price. You only need about 10-20KWH. They will come down to about £2,000.
For me, just 3 kWh a day would cover most of my electricity use.
If one could work out a way to vehicle to load and charge say an old leaf from solar that - an essentially free other than quite low capital cost - energy system is entirely possible in retirement (it's easier in the southern med that get twice as much sunlight than here (and require less central heating), but solar panels are ridiculously cheap (and one could install a heat pump) so this doesn't matter (given enough space). I can imagine not doing more than say 50 miles hypermiling (say 15kwh) once or perhaps twice a week.
