You might manage a Twizzy but that isn't a car. It's an electric pram.
And long discontinued as a failure in the market.

That 3.6kw PV system would work on the other French quadricycle, the Citroen Ami with 6kW battery, but would make no financial sense for a car substitute costing only 5000 € in France.

(Though £8000 in rip off Britain)

It looks as if the rate of offending, at least for some crimes, might be greater within the Met than in the population at large. If a crime is committed, first check Met officers.

Met police officer charged with 13 child sexual offences
PC Hussain Chehab is accused of four counts of sexual activity with a child aged 13 to 15 among other charges

Strictly Come Dancing postponed after death of the Queen

Even more serious

Pirate day was due on Monday
Why don't they go ahead using the Pirate code
"Cancelled out of respect?
It's more of a guideline really
We're Pirates aint we?"

This country has gone stark raving mad , every damn thing is closing on Monday.

Even Center Parks have told their holidaymakers that they have to leave by 10am and not return until 10am on Tuesday. Which will leave them stranded with nowhere to stay that night, far from home with their children.

I hope the publicity backlash bankrupts them.

I'm glad we are many miles away from London and anywhere else things might be happening (e.g. cities which will be doing something or other such as church services, parades, or giant TVs).

But I get a feeling some people might disapprove if we decided to actually do anything like go for a walk on the beach!

Totally bonkers. How about some respect for the almost two-fifths who want to get rid of royalty?

I see all the supermarkets are closing too on Monday, but Waitrose are saying their branches on the funeral procession route will be open to serve the crowds. More like respect for a profit from the supermarket that holds the royal warrant.

I guess that people will find hospital appointments and operations cancelled, and if not, public transport will be unpredictable making it difficult for patients and staff to get in. And on and on...

They have reversed their decision. Glad I'm not even contemplating using them.

A friend of mine makes his own biodiesel from used chip shop fat - it smells of fish and chips wherever his van has been. No I don't know the recipe of either. He was laughing while saving a fortune before, he's intolerably jolly now. When it isn't free, chippies pay him to take it away, because Councils and water companies sue when they encounter fatbergs in sewers under their establishments.
The recipe is apparently rather simple ... Add methanol . But actually the old food oil will work fine on its own. It needs filtering to remove the water and carbonised food particles , and then could be added to a standard diesel mixture . The older diesel engines were safer as the the newer DCI types have much tighter tolerances . I did it a few times a few years ago, when fresh vegetable oil was very cheap ..that is I added a few litres of pure vegetable oil ,to a tank of diesel not make biodiesel .
But the recipe is just to add methanol , and the oil forms glycerine and water and biodiesel, decant out the biodiesel ..., And put the glycerine in your hair.

Aha! That explains why he appears to only ever buy very old Bedford and Mercedes vans. Also he's very tight - classic vehicles, no road tax.

And put the glycerine in your hair.
...and that explains his Shakin' Stevens look.

TF?!?!?? As if there wasn't enough damned unhappiness to go around already, we've got this state mandated misery after the death of someone in a very powerful position who's celebrated for managing to exist for an inordinate length of time without getting involved in politics.

And whose son's alleged selfless sense of service does not extend to offering to pay even a token amount of inheritance tax in the midst of the tightest squeeze in seventy years on the rest of us who do.

That's the advantage of owning the country before recently uppity peasants got even more revolting. Now where did I put my pitchfork and torch?

I reckon those PV charging points have local storage battery, the PV charges the battery, the battery charges the car with additional supply from the grid.
If you assume the daily usage of 40 miles, you'll need something like 10-12KWH every day to top up your battery, that's doable for a domestic PV system.

You can't make enough electrticity to charge your car at home either, not without a generator, which defeats the whole exercise.
I was quoted on a 3.6kw PV system giving on average 6 kwh per day. With minimum of 50kwh battery in your car, no production at night, when car is parked.. And used when your system might top up 10%or so, makes off grid charging totally unviable for 95% of us in UK.
Would be more viable going round your chip shops and collecting used frying oil to make green diesel with.
Home "none grid "charging of electric cars is a none starter. The maths, logistics and costs don't add up. You might manage a Twizzy but that isn't a car. It's an electric pram.
My 3.6Kw nominal installation has now produced 3.3MW.hrs in approx 1 year, or 9KW.hr per day average. Now maybe last year was untypical , but it still is that value. So 6 Kw you quote is a low number. However the fact that one needs the car during the hours of sunshine, destroys any economics, as powerwalls or battery storage are expensive

they are coming down rapidly in price. You only need about 10-20KWH. They will come down to about £2,000.

For me, just 3 kWh a day would cover most of my electricity use.

And a similar amount would cover most of my driving (if I had an EV!). I don't use a car every day. Most of my journeys are only a few miles. I could probably arrange to almost never drive two consecutive days.

If one could work out a way to vehicle to load and charge say an old leaf from solar that - an essentially free other than quite low capital cost - energy system is entirely possible in retirement (it's easier in the southern med that get twice as much sunlight than here (and require less central heating), but solar panels are ridiculously cheap (and one could install a heat pump) so this doesn't matter (given enough space). I can imagine not doing more than say 50 miles hypermiling (say 15kwh) once or perhaps twice a week.
