At a dinner at the Garrick
"The New European has been told that the prime minister was asked how family life with his new wife and mother to his child Carrie Symonds was going. His reported answer, that he was experiencing “buyer’s remorse” over the union, astonished some of those present. "

He must have gone to Specsavers :D

Normal service will resume immediately:

Geordie Greig ousted as editor of the Daily Mail
I am sorry to see him go.
He was an improvement on Paul Dacre.
Money controls what the media write and the media control what their readers think and how they vote.

I'm still in shock that he was ever appointed!

Perhaps the Guardian will offer him a job. :)

he's landed gentry, Eton and Oxford, old English money class.
I can't see he'd fit in at the Guardian.

Are the EA and Ofwat suitable bodies to investigate, seeing as they appear not to have noticed the stench of sewage over eleven (tory governed) years? Can they really be expected to get to the bottom of the issues when doing so could reflect so appallingly on them?

Public Inquiry into the companies AND EA AND Ofwat, please.

Press release Water companies could face legal action after investigation launched into sewage treatment works

Major investigation announced by the Environment Agency and Ofwat into sewage treatment works

OG - did you know about tomorrow?

Yes indeed it started nearly ten years before I retired, the company used to associate with it, but looking at it now only Kimbereley Clark still do.
Pity that
However it has to be said that it's no good looking at the entry point only, you have to view the whole infrastructure of sanitation, as was proved by the early tragedies .
Joseph Bazalgette did wonders in designing the London sewers, but in the early stages while the waste was very effectively removed from the city, it was simply dumped untreated into the river

London's Titanic: The tragic day 650 Londoners drowned in a river full of poo

As a result of the subsequent public inquiry into the incident, from 1888 solid waste was separated from the sewage, and transported downstream on ‘sludge’ boats to be dumped out at sea.

That gives me an idea.

The average carbon burden of a person in the UK is 12.7 tonnes.

Therein lies the answer to our sewage problem.

For each illegal turning up in a rubber boat, we dump 12.7 tonnes of sewage off the French coast to compensate for the carbon burden they sent us.
