You may recall that I made a few comments about my jaws getting very tired with walking ...not talking ! ,And thinking it might be heart related. This was a few weeks ago. Well yesterday morning I had a standard workup scheduled... Bloods, ECG Echogram, stress test , meet the consultant for pat on back....To say it went badly is an understatement.
The nurse prevaricated putting me on the stress test, after I was all wired up, saying the bloods hadn't been done. It seemed fishy. Then the Charge nurse insisted I not leave the premises, because of a blood enzyme and had to be immediately admitted. So I waited all afternoon for an angiogram, which resulted in a 2 hours in theatre. .. Angiogram are usually 20 minutes plus.... Bluntly one of the set of 3 stents fitted a year ago had totally clogged, and It was only the perfusion from another 3 stents in the other artery working perfectly which was keeping the show on the road. So a Dynarod job done , I am home now....
Is that due to an issue with the stents or the environment they are in? (E.g. how readily your blood clots.)

Sounds like that was just in time...

Back to covid. Yesterday was another landmark day in Ireland ...a lockdown which is semi-detached. And in celebration there was an interesting aside by one of our university virology professors , on why a full covid infection and recovery yields a more broadbased immunity than a vaccine. Her point was that assuming the patient has survived,,they have been exposed to the entire protein jacket of the virus , and not just a mini segment.

What does it mean if Johnson told Kwarteng to apologise and report himself to the standards committee - not that Kwarteng (as presented to us) himself decided to do so?

If the virus changes, then it only needs to change the mini-segment a specific vaccine targets in order to be missed by the immune system.

Not at all clear how different (from no difference to totally different) the target proteins of AZ and Pfizer are. If they are very different, then we can expect mixed vaccination to (potentially) remain effective if only one mini-segment changes. Whereas, for example, three vaccinations with Pfizer would still remain susceptible to total failure due to a single mini-segment mutation.

Whoops! The Royal Navy has lost an F35B into the Mediterranean. Luckily they are "only" £100 million each.

I bet the Russians have already despatched one of their "fishing trawlers" from the Black Sea to look for it.

I think the professor meant the capsid proteins. The Pfizer and the AZ vaccines contain only a segment of the spike, not the capsid.
When the body fights successfully a full blown covid infection, its immune system will recognise not only the spike but also lots of capsid proteins.
A variant may change a few of those proteins but the majority will still be recognised in the future. Therein lies the broader protection of a successful fight against a real infection.

My discussion with the surgeon this morning indicated ..it was just one of those things. There was no difference between these stents and the perfectly performing ones, except that this artery is in worse nick and smaller a lot more bendy. It was only 2 weeks after completion of the yearly blood thinner plavix regime. And yes it was a close run thing. I could see that in his attitude today.

Good luck with it all Danidl. Take care...

After Fabricant got up to insist Starmer retract the word "Coward" aimed at Johnson
It proved to have been a trap that Starmer used to the full with I withdraw "Coward" then paused and slippped "But he's no leader"

One joker on twitter pointed out Fabricant won't win any friends with that gaffe and added
"There will be hell toupee "
:D

I hope your treatment yields the desired outcome. I need you around so that I can disagree with everything you post:p

Well I wrote this today.so was obviously still in the land of the living...and I am not convinced my surgeon was of the opinion that I might be. He as much as told me that today,.. but they never use the D word. The interesting thing about angiography is that the subject is generally aware of whats happening, so when you hear the surgeon muttering inaudibly , its not going well. Its rather difficult to maintain very shallow breathing for 2 hours , so I might have dozed off on a few occasions.
Well using football talk, I feel I am on a yellow card.
