Remember the real crisis is Brexit?
.. not for me it isn't. Its a done deal, ..and we will just ignore and carry one. Note the posturing of Downing Street today in regards to the NI protocol, will all be part of an on going phony war.
The Tories will pretend to be doing something , in order to keep the DUP on side until the next NI election cycle. The EU will make what minor accommodations they can. One is likely to be limited flow of specific non EU compliant pharmaceuticals, to recognised pharmacies in NI.. provided that it is policed.
However I fear that "Colin the Catapillar " Christmas special cakes will be in short supply in Ireland next December. Marks and Spencer can hardly claim it having strategic importance.

Which doesn't matter. Some 90% of that 10% don't suffer an "illness" as you put it, they either have no symptoms, only learning they've caught it due to a suspect test, or their symptoms are mild and shrugged off.

The statistics for long covid or for serious long term chronic complaints of lung or heart or cerebral are only developing , but are looking like 10% of the infected and "recovered".

I watched a program about it, a long convoy of women "sufferers", one man.

Like most men I've rarely gone to the doctors since there's rarely anything worth going for. But one thing is very noticeable, that virtually every time the waiting room is full of women and I'm the only man.

A large proportion of women are experts at illness, it's their hobby. If it's on offer they'll get it or imagine have got it and head for the surgery waiting room and more self imposed martyrdom.

I guess this is another of my posts that fails to make me popular. :D

The point we differ on is that I dispute whether those would have extremely mild symptoms ever really "got it". And if there symptoms are so mild whether they even evoked an immune response. I have pointed out a few times that getting tested after the event for specific antibodies , is not in my book conclusive.

did you mean specific sequences? most of us have detectable levels of covid antibodies.

I reckon it'll be bad for the person.
Too low virus count, the Covid virus can sit dormant without triggering immune response for a long time until given a chance.
We need regular boosters until covid virus is busted.

This Tory government has definitely been stealing Labour's clothes.

Nationalisation of Northern Rail.

Confirmation that government control of Eastern Rail will continue.

A policy of very large scale investment for the future.

The continuation of the Triple Lock for pensioners.

Expansion of the benefits system to help deal with Covid-19.

And now nationalising an industrial company with Sheffield Forgemasters.

All present and past Labour policies.

Good to see the new Johnson gin palace has a;ready increased in cost by 25% since May.

Would be better if those agreeing to it underwrote the costs with their own money.

That never actually happened. Virtually all the scrap collected by such campaigns was never used, eventually making millionaires of those who cashed in on scrap and war surplus after the war, George Dawson being the most notorious of them.

Actually I agree , and it gives is the chance to point out that should the same thing happen, some Tory donor would find it a nice little earner!
The aluminium of kitchen utensils is totally unsuitable to take the stresses involved in an aircraft

To foil the Germans?
Which takes me back to an early memory of cheese - processed, flavoured. It was in packaging about the same diameter as Dairylea but probably twice as thick. And with something like 16 segments in four or more flavours. Loved them! That was foiled German cheese as it was in Berlin in around 1960.

Professor Jonathan Van Tam has just said this on the BBC news:

"The idea that Covid is not as serious as given is right".

Nice to get confirmation that I'm right from Professor Chris Whitty's deputy.

He went on to say that it remains serious. Quite right too, just like 'flu it can make one ill or even kill some of the more vulnerable.

"not as serious as given" amazing how much death and misery worldwide has been caused by a so called "none serious as given" disease.

Truly while the Expert Medical man undoubtedly has intelligence
Wisdom is something he is unlikely to suffer from, and really needs to engage the brain before making rash remarks that can be used as anti vaccination propaganda.
