The EMA will say continue using the Oxford vaccine again tomorrow, you know it and I know it.
yes, and I said s myself.
Paris, Berlin etc don't care about brexit, even less about what the Brits think of AZ. If you don't believe me, look for an EU state's newspapers headline about brexit.
They are more interested in developing a replacement for London financial services.
The way we go about developing our new foreign policy post brexit may even cause Germany to re-arm in a not too distant future.

How did you make the jump from the Oxford vaccine to Germany reinstating the Third Reich and a destined to fail attempt to reinvent the London financial services industry? Quite bizarre. :D :D :D

The only Brexit spite fest around is in your imagination, by now quite rightly they almost certainly really don't give a damn about the UK, why should they? no profit in it.
And it's time you learned not to give a damn about them either!
Ask yourself this, what have they got to gain?
Absolutely nothing at all.
They do have a lot to gain. In years to come vaccines will bring massive revenues. Any criticism of AZ will have far reaching consequences on its future usage.
Look at it the other way OG, why introduce false criticism. There really is no justification on safety concerns. Even from within EU there is much criticism and feeling it has been a political decision and not medical. (watch the video linked yesterday)
Any put down of UK be it via Oxford /AZ or our decisions will damage our image in future sales. EU stand to benefit from that as our competitors.
EU would rather folk buy from Putin than us. Recent actions have made that abundantly clear.
Somewhat of a coincidence almost all countries to suspend vaccine are EU. (Thailand only briefly paused roll out, I believe for 2 days)

You asked
"why introduce false criticism. "
Look no further than to deflect criticism of their rollout program?
And again why the continued aim at the EU for the actions of individual states, when the EU are promoting the use of the AZ vaccine?

Yours and zlatan's take on the AZ vaccine seems to me jingoistic.
There is really no connection between the name Oxford and these stops and gos with the AZ vaccine in the EU.
As for connection, parties are gearing up for the coming May election. Brexit will return centre stage soon enough when February, March and April trade figures will become available. I expect they will confirm the reduction forecast years ago.
The justification for brexit is now accepted as sovereignty by the conservative party. The basis of that acceptance is patriotism and defense. So it's no surprise that
BJ was talking yesterday in parliament about increasing defense spending and the number of nuclear warheads.
Why do we need more nuclear warheads?

Johnson can't afford penis enlargement surgery perchance?
And hasn't heard of the Tudor times fashion for a roundly padded cod piece. :D

I, m only offering an explanation when there is no justification perhaps you could offer one.
If you examine death figures, medical problems etc of vaccine there are many many examples with worse stats than for blood clots, on this standard it could all be repeated again and again.
I agree about the deflecting blame. Could be to put oweness on public, when roll out figures are finalised countries can blame AZ and public but I, m not convinced.Deflecting blame by making it worse hardly seems a clever strategy. Suspect its more to do with promoting their own EU products.
Saying it is precaution is being very naive. Precaution against what exactly? 37 incidents out of 17 million???(and that's assuming there is a link! when actually there is not) Do the maths Woosh. Higher risk of being eaten by a Shark, in Rotherham.

There was no reason for stopping the use of the Oxford vaccine. The 37 blood clotting cases is far less than would be expected to occur naturally in a population the size of those who received the Oxford vaccine. The WHO and the EU’s own regulator advised against stopping its use.

The decision to stop is 100% political. I have no idea how you got onto the subject of nuclear bombs:D

I heard an expert say yesterday that they could not see any logical reason why several countries had paused the AZ roll out.

He went on to say that the data showed there was virtually no difference in the rates of blood clots between any of the vaccines in current use. So he could not understand why if countries were pausing the AZ vaccine then they should also pause all the other vaccines they were using too.
It's not quite that straightforward, AZ brought this upon themselves.

First, because they were behind others they pushed it forward for use before doing the phase 3 trials.

That meant they only have approval for emergency use.

And to make matters worse, they've avoided having any peer review of their work.

So it's not quite as clear cut as our biased EU haters in this forum would have you believe. Those three things I list are what the EU leaders and their experts are looking at, yes, they have experts too, at least as good as ours.

It‘s a total shambles. The unnecessary dithering and the systematic undermining of confidence in the Oxford vaccine has been present since day one. It has been a premeditated & calculated strategy based on nothing more than spite over Brexit.

Both the EMA and WHO have told these idiots to get on with it and not to stop using the Oxford vaccine. But still stocks go unused. They now face a major self inflicted vaccine hesitancy problem and an impending third wave of infection & death. Bravo!

I‘m so pleased we are free of the EU at this particular time. There is no way our vaccination would be so advanced. The U.K. vaccination programme is set to accelerate further into the lead when the Indian manufactured supplies land.

I don’t think it will be long before we will be fulfilling our pledge to supply more vaccine assistance to poorer nations than the entire 27 nations of the EU put together.
Look at that telegraph images a little more closely, and not the text.... If each case 50% of the stock of the AZ has already been injected .. therefore it is being used. Prudently. They need to have the second dose available available on time.

It is only you who could state that a vaccine which is currently suspended from use in 15 countries is still being used by those countries. :D

If it’s all about prudent planning the second dose stock levels, why are the leaders blaming blood clotting? Answer? Your theory is BS. It makes a change from you just being plain wrong I suppose.
