Think yourself lucky you aren’t living in France,

I was waiting for that - surprised you didn't see the headlines

A Scottish factory is gearing up to produce a 'treacherous' 60million doses of the French vaccine as soon as regulations allow. "Days away..."

"The vaccine could be available by the end of 2021."

Valneva will potentially have the capacity to supply up to 250 million vaccine doses to the UK and internationally.

Looks like we'll be exporting more than we get....

You should back that statement up by giving your vaccination slot to someone else then. If the risk to the unvaccinated person is so vanishingly small, you will have absolutely nothing to worry about. Go and join Jeremy Corbyn’s brother on one of his anti-lockdown demonstrations.
Do make a desperate effort to grasp the point that Flecc is trying to make

Well now
COVID-19: Health Secretary Matt Hancock self-isolating after being 'pinged' by NHS app
The cabinet minister has been in close contact with somebody who tested positive and will be working from home until Sunday.

Unique in being pinged by the app just as we achieve biggest death rate in the world?

Hmmm
DM is on his case :) Hancock out and about last Sunday...

Just as it was urged for everyone to behave as if they have coronavirus, warning that asymptomatic 'silent spreaders' are unwittingly fuelling the crisis and the next person infected 'could be you'.

Pity we are all arguing, we should really be celebrating good news like this.
Imagine mess we, d be in with no vaccines,it wasn't guaranteed. Still no vaccine for HiV and that was sequenced 20 tears ago..
I do feel this optimism about Great British Summer and holidays is rather premature. I, m keeping my head down... For as long as possible. We aren't sorted til it's all sorted no matter what Hancock and Ryan Air claim.
First time I, ve felt optimistic for a year tho. I honestly thought we were, in Frazer's words, doomed..
I saw health service totally and utterly devastated by May...??? Time yet if we don't follow instructions..???

But again, the trial results indicate that the risk of severe symptoms requiring hospitalisation is virtually zero.
Let me make my own position absolutely clear so we can get the personal aspect and silly historical political accusations out of this vaccine discussion.

I am not in the least interested in rushing to get the protection against Covid that any vaccines offer or even getting it at all. That's because my circumstances mean I am at very low risk from infection but quite high risk of dying soon anyway. In addition one half dose is of no use to me whatsoever for my purposes.

The reason for that is that early last year I was planning to get some dental treatment but the arrival of covid scuppered that hope since it appeared no dentist would consider a high risk person in their 80s for non emergency treatment. Therefore the arrival of a vaccine even in a two stage 21 days was welcome since it could convince a dentist I'm safe enough to treat. That is my sole interest in getting vaccinated that way with both doses.

However the government's irresponsible gamble of a 12 week delay between doses once again scuppered that hope since first, it's another three months with no certainty they'll even deliver on that, given their unreliability, and second, that it's not even known if that will deliver enough immunity. So again I have no certainty of being able to get that dental treatment thanks to the government's wildly eratic policies.

Fortunately for me there is no pain involved at present but there is considerable inconvenience and risk of a worse situation.

Boris Johnson 'does not have a nap' during the day, Downing Street says

That chair could feed a family for a few months...

Humanscale Freedom Task Chair With Headrest (I kid you not)
designed by Niels Diffrient

Described by The New York Times as "the gold standard in office seating," the Freedom chair redefines the concept of traditional task chairs. Diffrient’s unique approach removed complexities found in other chairs, such as cumbersome recline levers and back tension dials for a truly ergonomic task chair. As a result, he developed a recline mechanism that perfectly adjusts to the user, definitively reinventing modern task seating to be truly simple, functional and beautiful.

My daughter, and this is absolutely true honestly, phoned 111 for an emergency appointment for dental work and was advised to pull her own tooth out. Which unbeknown to us at time, she did.
Moral of story... Don't mess with my daughter.

Nope. Actually not very expensive. A standard office chair meeting H&S guidelines for a person using it for 7 hrs per day is close on half that

"Pressed on whether he was confident that there had been no private sector profiteering from the £22billion Test and Trace budget, Mr Williams said: 'Yes, as confident as I can be based on the information that I've seen and based on the regular reporting that comes up through the Test and Trace commercial and finance staff.'

The Department of Health's Mr Williams had admitted that consultants were earning an average £1,000 a day when working for the Test & Trace programme, although refused to confirm the maximum day rate when asked whether it was £7,000."

There is a Doctor on LBC radio right now doing a Q & A session. I only caught a bit of what he was saying, but he mentioned that there is some slightly disturbing data coming out of Israel with regards to the Pfizer vaccine.

As I mentioned a while back Israel have done a deal with Pfizer that in return for large quantities of the vaccine, Pfizer get access to lots of their medical data. Apparently Israel have an extremely advanced medical data system that allows easy access to all kinds of useful health information.

Although it is still very early days the Doctor on the LBC show said that Israel are not seeing the extremely high levels of effectiveness (>90%) that Pizer found in their trials. The Doctor went on to say this might be because many people have caught the virus within a few days of being vaccinated, and so the vaccine had not had time to work.

Has anyone else heard anything about any of this?
