I think Starmer offers some hope of an alternative to voting Conservative.
I watched his interview with Marr and thought Starmer's position is sensible.
He clearly spells out that the aim is to win 2024 election. Then work on improving the deal.
It will take time. We are at the stage of the Canada deal, next step is Turkey deal.

no, his army marched to Capitol Hill last week demanding the scalp of Mike Pence and jail for any RINO senators that did not support reversing election result.
Jeez Tony, do you actually believe that? It was a few hundred people, most of which are known weirdos and larpers. When you watch the videos, you can see the Trump supporters trying to stop them from breaking in. An army normally has arms. There were no armed incidences apart from the cop who shot the girl in cold blood for no apparent reason, other than he might have been scared because he wasn't aware of what was going on.

Interestingly just come off phone to friends in Ireland.. They are in their late 70s,one with quite severe underlying problems and hence in high risk group. They aren't expecting vaccine until April at earliest and as yet know of nobody having received vaccine.
PS
I thought you, d know more about number of deaths than anybody else.
On a direct comparison with Italy (who use same time criteria) they have recorded 78,056 deaths and UK 80,005..(source Worldometer coronavirus statistics).
Perhaps Danidl you should contact them and inform Worldometer they are out by a factor of 3 on UK figures. I, m sure you have the stats to back it up.
Rates become totals when figures are Totalled, clue is in the word Danidl.
But yes our current rate is terrible. Totals go up daily though.
Ok.
Vaccination commenced in RoI on 29th. December. There were 16K administered by the 6th. And I actually do know recipients ..a nephew working in an acute hospital and a niece in a different hospital The current rate of vaccines is 40K per week. The protocol is front line medical staff, and people in care homes. Since your friends are at home, they like myself can protect themselves by cocooning.
We also have a spiral due to outrageously inept decisions made in early December..so i am not complacent.
Rates are rates ..and the UKs urgency is the short term spiralling numbers ,not the unfortunate dead of six months ago.
I have no interest in joining in your tit \ tat jingoism

I wonder how the Capitol riots would have been handled had it been BLM rioters??
Troops and helicopter gunships I suspect.
You're spouting silly things without thinking. If you remember, left wing stormed the Capitol building in 2018. Read all about it.

Regarding BLM, that's easy to answer too because it's already happened. Don't you remember? BLM armed themselves and took over an area of Capitol Hill after looting all the businesses in the zone and kicking the police out of their HQ, whic was in the zone. They then declared it an automonous zone. After a week or so, someone reminded them that the insurrectiion act applied to autonomous zones, so they changed the name from Capitol Hill Autonomous zone to Capital Hill Occupied Protest. The authorities did nothing. The Governor called it a block party and the mayor said that they were going to have a summer of love, but it didn't quite work out how they hoped. It ended quite abruptly when the inhabitants of the AZ started shooting each other.

What was that about the vote of no confidence in Keir Starmer by his own party that I posted about yesterday? I was hoping someone could enlighten me as to what it was all about.

Problem is it ends up a personal interpretation.

I can assure you beaches and national parks in England are packed, busier during lockdown than any other time.
But how many actually get infected out walking???
I, m I actually putting anyone at risk going windsurfing, well any more than normal, actually no, but it offends some folk.???
Too cold anyway so no problem. Stick to emtb and offending folk locally who for some reason find cycling during lockdown offensive. Yes, some do..
Odd as I got this the other day relating to cricket - bit of mixed messages from the govt somewhere along the way

"The Government has confirmed that:
You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

· by yourself

· with the people you live with

· with your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)

· in a childcare bubble where providing childcare

· or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

Public outdoor places include:

· parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, forests

· public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them)

· the grounds of a heritage site

· playgrounds"

Exceptions I've heard of relate to elite sports folk, people with learning difficulties, autism / Asbergers etc.

Well Corbyn didn’t leave him much work to do if that is the case.

I think Starmer offers some hope of an alternative to voting Conservative.

Corbyn was always going to fail. His policies inevitably result in such a government running out of other people’s money and assets to give away. The man is a clown, just like his anti-lockdown, anti-mask and anti-vaccine brother.
What alternative? when he simply states he has no intention of attempting to re-enter the EU
He's just the other cheek of the same backside

What do you reckon? This is now the third time I've heard the same thing from completely different sources.
You don't seriously believe this ******

" It would be very clear that the disguised Antifa people were 95%+ of the people in the building. Again, Trump countered because he was steps ahead of them. This was clearly a staged event meant to blame Trump supporters and try to frame Trump"

Trump's fave and last remaining outlet, Newsmax, last night was claiming it was 99.9% antifa that stormed the Capitol.

What reality are you in?

Trump is a danger to democracy. He is the equivalent of Hitler in 1932 and Munich. He was voted in. Fine, we all make mistakes.
He was voted out. Leave. End of.
Trouble is we have more than one pound shop clone in government too

There is controversy and not just in the party

it's a small event. Local association trying to grab attention.

Camberwell Green branch, which is a part of the Camberwell and Peckham Labour Party, has now passed a no confidence motion in the leader.

It said: “This branch has lost confidence in Keir Starmer as leader of the Labour Party.

"It does not believe he can win a General Election and deliver the socialist policies that this country so badly needs.”

Odd though that this government is using most of his policies at the moment isn't it? a government running out of other people’s money and assets to give away.

If they keep this up there will be nothing left to "spaff" to their cronies.

Disagree, there really isn't any chance of getting a "Better" deal with the exception of membership
The EU aren't dumb enough to fill the pockets of a rival out of largesse

Did you see Parler is being chucked off AWS?
What do you think about that? Are you happy that big tech billionairs can click their fingers to eliminate competition.

Sensorship is closing tighter and tighter. Do you think you'll still be able to post that the Prime Minister is a bar steward in the future. They can't do that in China, neither can they make posts about Covid! All the controls that we can see in China are gradually being implemented in the west. They've already started putting ordinary people on no-fly lists and taking away bank accounts and credit cards without any trial or hearing, while many cheer them on. I keep telling you, but you're in denial. Can you go out and do what you want, like you could this time last year? Is there Covid-21 coming?

Its censorship VFR, becoming more attractive by the hour.
