Brexit, for once some facts.

Didn't you read what I posted, Sweden has less deaths pro rata to population.

As I've posted before, ultimately defence pending vaccines doesn't work against pandemics, the disease keeps bouncing back, especially in areas once thought to be successful in avoiding it. Information link
.
And Sweden has now realised their mistake, haven't they?
The economy is only a tool of a civilisation not the reason for it's continuation , which is to protect the people, not kill them off in droves.
Sweden's Failure

We should have emulated New Zealand, and so should they

On the subject of official Brexit information to companies

Oh Dear..
But a second "Oh Dear", a pity Victoria couldn't have avoided the double negative trap at the end of her third paragraph:

"Quite frankly, there has been an absence of factually incorrect information from all government agencies."

High praise indeed for the government in what was supposed to be a letter criticising them.

So very easy to do - especially when you are seriously angry - as I assume she is.

(You have even conformed to the rule that if you criticise someone's typing/grammar, inevitably you make a worse mistake in your own language. :) )

Maybe flecc (*) will be able to talk with his GP practice by Parler?

(*) I think it was flecc having difficulties because his GP practice has installed an absurd online access system that can't be used from a 'real' computer?
Probably wouldn't have got a reply.

In practice I managed to obtain an email address for the Doctor and have confirmed that my mail reached him.

He's apparently ignored it since there's been no reply, fairly typical for the NHS round here.

But it is very difficult to separate out the differences like housing density, and who knows what other factors.
I've answered this objection before, there's little meaningful difference in terms of deaths and infections.

But a vast difference for their future with their absence of very many billions of crippling debt.

Interesting FT article.
Our local hospital has 11 patients in ICU with cvd. 105 on wards with covid (or because of covid, there is a difference) and covers around 260,000 people. For some reason we are now well below national average, not long ago we were amongst worst affected.
Does anybody understand the mechanics going on. I don't think they do..

Yes in moments of anger, but in such a very long and carefully composed letter to an important personage she could have paused and read it through before sending, so no excuse.

It reminded me of a letter sent to a Government Minister by a senior manager of the company I was working for at the time and hand signed but not read through by him after being typed.

In the Ministers address on the letter a single letter had been mistyped by the typist, so instead of directing it to Whitehall it was to Shitehall.

Very similar to what I've posted about my area a few times, Covid-19 outcomes can't be accurately predicted, nor is there any certainty of avoiding it, regardless of what defence is tried, short of an effective vaccine. I daresay this is true of all new pandemics.

So it still got to the right address... aren't postcodes wonderful? :D

Sorry to barge in and disrupt with an ebike question on this ebike forum. I’ve asked elsewhere on Pedelecs, but know we have some clever people on this thread who might be able to answer my questions.

As follows:

I want to attach an ebike to a direct drive turbo trainer (the type where the back wheel is removed and a cassette drives directly into the turbo).

The bike is powered by a Bosch Performanceline motor. When attached to the turbo, the rear wheel will be removed so the spoke magnet won’t be present to send a signal to the motor sensor pickup on the chain stay.

My questions:

Does not having the magnet passing the pickup and hence not sending a signal to the motor matter?

Is there a way to by-pass / fool the sensor when the bike is on the turbo?

This might seem like a strange thing to be asking, but I’m trying to help a friend who has a disability and wants to ride her ebike on social Zwift rides / turn her legs without going out risking injury on the ice. Riding the bike unpowered on the turbo would be too much effort for her. It has to be low motor power on a turbo.

Thanks.

Attach a magnet to crank ring and mount sensor so it picks movement up.???
System won't work without a magnet passing sensor periodically..???

Same as Zlatan's advice but illustrated, on this link

The later Bosch systems allegedly include protections against fooling them, so this tip might stop working after a while.

Great suggestion Zlatan. I’m not familiar with Bosch motors, I’m a Panasonic man:D

Does the motor pickup just need a periodic pulse then? I thought the motor software calculated the bike’s road speed from the pulse frequency and wheel size. The pedal cadence (attaching magnet to pedal crank) doesn’t give the motor that information, will it still work?

I suppose I could do as you say and take the bike for a quick test ride.

Thank you flecc. I’d really like to try and get it sorted for this lady. It’s a fairly new Bosch Performance Line, so I think I need to try the magnet on crank idea before she commits to buying a turbo trainer. They are quite expensive, so this needs to be tested.
