Exactly as I forecast and demonstrated the other day with its total failure here in London from day one of its introduction. It can't be made to work because it cannot be policed without completely paralysing the country and finally destroying the economy. Freedom of movement of people and goods is the very foundation of our whole economy.

The fact is that none of the defensive measures against the virus are working anywhere in the world, and we are no exception in having the huge current increases in infection.

The defensive measures don't work because they cannot work as I've repeatedly been posting. My first mention of that right at the start of the measures in spring was how supermarket basket handles were virtually never being disinfected, passing from hand to stack and back to hand without any attention. Since about a third of that shopping is done using a basket by the near third of all households that are single person, that system is a failure.

Nor is such disinfecting a success on trolleys, since after an initial burst of a fair degree of compliance many locations are only doing it in cavalier token fashion. At the huge superstore I use almost every trolley goes from hand to hand without any disinfecting, not because of negligence but due to it's structural circumstances. They do some disinfection, but the disinfected trolleys are not the ones that get used.

There are parallels with those failures for every defensive measure tried, from disinfections and social distancing through to the current attempts at tiers.

The only thing that works, but only to a very limited degree, is total lockdown, but the country cannot live with that indefinitely since we cannot live without a fully operational economy.

We might as well take the hit because we all will in the end anyway.
.
I don’t know why people don’t do their own disinfecting. Outside the homes, I wipe everything down or sanitise my hands after touching it. Petrol pumps, handles, buttons, I clean my hands afterwards or the surface beforehand, it’s become an automatic thing, I hardly think about it now.

Defensive measures worked and work - in New Zealand, china, Sydney etc. It hasn't worked here because it wasn't meant to. It was contrived, like brexit, around corruption (test and trace, much like fake ferries a small part of it) and transferring responsibility for an avoidable fiasco (like brexit) onto the public.
It hasn’t and can’t work here because we are densely populated with people living 30 to a house in some circumstances. There’s no more room left. Plus, our economy seems to rely on pubs, tattoos, nail bars, gambling, farming old people and generally being a twat. Did I mention money for nothing from housing? Yes, guilty as charged on that one.

Who reports the information isn't important. what matters is whether they're telling the truth. Documents, emails, SMS messages, photos and videos are compelling evidence, especially when neither Hunter nor Joe Biden have denied that the laptop and what's on it isn't genuine. Also, what makes me believe that it's all genuine is the way the MSM refused to go and look at it and the way social media tried to supress and invalidate the story. Even they have now admitted that there was nothing to indicate that it was fake at the recent senate hearing, and they've now released the restriction.

The important story is the cover-up, not the story itself. Why did CNN not want to go and see what was on the laptop when they were invited? Wouldn't you be interested if you were a news reporter and somebody said that they had conclusive documentary evidence that crooked things were going on in government?
My post went missing again ?

Perhaps CNN were not interested in what is turning out to be a non event anyway. What would concern me now is that Trump has interfered with the voting system (again) and told one state to only count votes on the day, that means postal votes will not arrive on time as it's now too late to get them in. Another Trickey-Trump manoeuvre that will fail like all the others have.
The funny thing is he could have walked this election, I said that myself at the very beginning he's very popular like Hitler was. Now instead he's dug a big hole for himself as did Hitler remember, which even if he doesn't fall in will teeter on the edge for 4 years.... what a pillock :D

But we are not those countries.

It worked in China since they can enforce there in a way impossible here.

It worked in New Zealand and Australia due to their isolation from the rest of the world combined with their very strict immigration control.

How could it possibly work here while flying in tens of thousands from all infected regions with the planes landing at Heathrow every 90 seconds all day long for months, and still doing so?

No chance whatsoever, whether desired or not.

I sussed out the Supermarket contagion thing way back. I take in store with me a large sanitising wipe, if I grab a trolley I run it along the handle then keep it wrapped around so as I pick things up my hands go straight back on the sanitising cloth. Same thing with a basket, if the store can't keep them clean it's up to me not a problem.

BTW did everyone know PPE is no longer VAT free...thanks Boris.

Trump didn't want mail-in voting. He fought tooth and nail against it, but Nacy Pelosi and the dems had the control, so pushed it through. Anything that happens as a result of them can't be blamed on Trump.

That's nothing to do with Biden's laptop and the info that's on it that shows that Joe Biden has been doing things he shouldn't have and taking money for them. As I said, any normal person would want to see the evidence. Anybody that just dismisses it as a non-story without evaluating the evidence is either a bigot or an activist. You know and I know that it's all genuine. If it weren't there would be law suits going in every direction from the Biden camp. Instead, Biden is hiding in his basement too scared to answer any questions from real reporters.

This is where the real problem is I believe, all countries do what's best for them...or so they think.
I hate to think of a situation where in a modern wealthy society like ours, we could find ourselves isolated from those countries that have sorted covid because we can't control our own people. I have to wonder if that's what a civilised society really is.

Have you or fleck been to sydney? Home from home. Pubs, bars, thousands of flights, travellers each day. Communes full of crack addicts. Full lockdown worked a treat. We chose not to test passengers on flights (not even scan temperature).

Well again vfr I'm not so sure of what you say. I'm a bigot and an activist in my own definition but I'm not interested because it's a non event conjured up to smear Biden, it's not working as we can see.
Neither of us know what's genuine and what's not in this whole non event that's why I pointed to the Trump vote rigging as it's factual and not part of a smear campaign that's failing miserably.

The only thing I do differently to what I've ever done before is to put a mask on in the shops, which I do out of politeness and to conform with any rules. My hand-washing hasn't changed, neither do i use any sanitiser. The doctor told me if I get the virus or normal flu, it'll kill me. So far, I'm still alive. I'm not going to change anything.

During this Covid year there is no comparison, they've been relatively isolated and with the strictest immigration controls in nearly all the world. As you've implied with testing, if it doesn't enter it doesn't spread.

They don't have rubber dinghies turning up on their coasts. The larger boats that do turn up have their illegal immigrants immediately locked into detention centres indefinitely, often on far offshore islands.

Joe Biden is a lawyer and he should be treated like Rudy Giuliani. Both Rudy and Joe peddled political influence.
Find me a lawyer that does not use influence.
If Tucker Carlson has any incriminating evidence, he should ask the FBI to sort it out after the election. Same thing applies to Trump. If anyone thinks that Trump has never broken any law, they need their head examining.

Documentary evidence, pictures, witnesses and cover-up doesn't leave any doubt in my mind, so it's not neither of us, it's just you. The motives and timing for the evidence isn't important.

Don't forget that Bobulinski has promised to testify under oath. He's also offered to be interviewed/cross-examined by any news channel, but none apart from Fox wants to see him.

So the EHRC is a Jewish conspiracy?

The hard left really is a nasty, envious and destructive sickness. Thank goodness Corbyn was defeated at the last election. With all of their corruption, incompetence and contempt for the public, I’d still vote Tory a 1000 times over to keep the hard left out of office.
Are you suggesting the EHRC is a Jewish conspiracy? got any evidence to that effect?
The don't have to be to miss something, do they, as I pointed out.
After all if Russian interference can be missed by other Goevernment agencies, anything is possible
Indeed likely

Sorry flecc, not for the first time we must disagree. Quarantine does work, the NZ and the Chinese show it works. And I continue to be annoyed that by June we had got our infection rate down to single figures, had the infrastructure in place for test and trace and let it slide.

Hardly any countries have sorted Covid, we are isolated from the very few because they are very far away. There are none in our region, the whole of Europe is in difficulties with rising infection rates, including those prematurely praised like Germany.
