That tells me Andy Burnham is right and that the Covid infection rate in Manchester is going down.
So the authorities resort to a change of subject, different areas and a fiddled number to try to show things are worse than they are.

most hospitals will run out of beds before the end of the month without a general lockdown.
I reckon BJ will have to announce a lockdown by Friday.
So they'll run out anyway, even with a lockdown by Friday. A lockdown this late won't change the infection rate course in 8 days.

I think you are right. Manchester is an interesting experiment. It will be fascinating to see how this plays out.

Burnham is more right than BJ/Gove.
Manchester is in tier 2 at the moment, infection rate in Manchester is stabilising at about 580 per 100,000.
He said any large city in the UK can be put under tier 3 this winter, so he is not fighting just for those who are on minimum wage in Manchester.

Its citizens' lives and livelihoods. Boris is making a significant mistake, and a typical boris one of doing too little too late (in terms of degree of national lockdown and financial support). This will cause avoidable death and insolvencies that will harm us and then him. It's in a sense march all over.
Jeremy Farrar of sage say ons statistics show 27k infections per day until 10 October and that the true figure at present is at the 50k per day tipping point. He argues for a national lockdown

Burnham should have shut up and shut down when told to. That would have saved lives too. The residents should have acted more responsibly as well. Again, even more lives saved. Boris gave mixed and confusing messages, that’s cost lives. Everyone is responsible, it’s a big fuckup.
No. The poor, those on minimum wage in hospitality need extension of furlough. Businesses need financial support. They didn't cause infection rates. They simply followed govt guidance. Boris is responsible. And a conservative govt that's desperately trying to pass the buck. But as in march it isnt going to work.
Can you remind me when the government and / or Boris Johnson ordered the residents of Liverpool onto the streets for a massive party? Also, when the residents were ordered to purchase fireworks with their insufficient funds and launch them at the town hall? All done during a global pandemic.
These places are now feeling the consequences of the reckless behaviour they engaged in several weeks ago. To reward that behaviour with handouts will cost more lives in the long run because they will do it again, safe in the knowledge that the state will bail them out.
What needs to happen is for these places to now hurt. They will learn the lesson that street parties and unrestricted socialising without a care for anyone else hurts them too. It’s the only way. You are far too soft and that is damaging people’s resilience. They need to toughen up and a good dose of hardship and pain is the correct medicine.
Apples and oranges again. Liverpool isnt manchester. Workers on minimum wage in hospitality are not revellers spreading covid. Businesses trying to survive and following govt guidance are not irresponsible
No. This really a case where the mixed messages from the Government confused the public. You see Barry, you have had the advantage of being guided by the superior intellects on this forum.
So how do you think I feel being forced into Tier 2 at an infection rate of under 23 in 100,000?
And it's the same for three quarters of London who don't have a problem. Dumping all 400 square miles into Tier 2 was idiotic when we don't mix across London. North and South London are different planets and the vast difference in infection rates shows that.
