Having looked again at your post I think that round trip figure from those so called experts is frankly utter rubbish.

Very few working people live in Central London and one way commutes average about 4 miles from inner boroughs. I know since I commuted from Streatham into both Waterloo and the West End for four years, averaging more that that each way.

From the outer boroughs like mine where such huge nunbers commute from it's far more, I had almost 16 miles each way for nine years to the West End and then 14 miles each way to Wandsworth south of the river for seventeen years.

And these are without the many trainloads and car drivers from all the distant locations far outside London that I mentioned.

The figures you quoted are not just wrong, they are impossible. I suspect they exclude many classes of London commuter.
.
Obviously I would bow to your local knowledge, I am aware of some people travelling long commutes, but there are obviously lots of villages within London, and lots and lots of houses and flats. With the costs of travel around London being high, I find it difficult to see nurses, bar staff, teachers commuting long distances.

A lot of lower paid workers absolutely have to travel longer distances - they cannot afford to live closer.

The latest confusion, now that we have devolved government is that here in Wales, sailing clubs remain closed, but they are open in England now.
I want to attend a boat rally on the Thames which will involve trailing my boat from Swansea to Swindon.
Nobody can tell me if it is legal.

For two years before the lockdown I took the first tube (530AM)from my end of the line on some days. It was a real eye opener, almost a caste system, packed with blue collar workers off to do London's dirty work

I cannot get it to be allowed, I'm afraid. I have seen reports of people being told they are wrong travelling 40 miles to a garden centre. Everything about that being OK except it being an excessive distance. (Not sure if they were fined or just warned.)

I might have expected her to have the opposite view? (Probably just the clash between what she feels she has to say in public and her political view.)

that may still be one good piece of the puzzle.
The Oxford vaccine stops the disease getting worse for the patient. If I understand correctly, it interferes with the reproduction of the virus so presumably you have to be infected first for it to be effective. You can still spread it, perfect for Cummings' scheme though to get to 'herd immunity'.

He said people should not have 'false expectations' of cure being ready soon despite ministers revealing they are hoping to have 30 million vaccine doses for the UK by September.

It sounds more like a biological weapon of the "Typhoid Mary" type than a vaccine to me!

What if this vaccine has an impact on the eventual use of a fully effective vacine? Like for TB where a positive Heaf test rules you out from having it.

Taking back control, thanks to the EU...

Brit competition regulator will soon be able to seize rogue traders' domains – and even Amazon accounts
Wide-ranging powers come into force in June
The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will soon acquire new EU-derived powers allowing it to seize control of rogue traders' eBay and Amazon accounts, and even their entire websites, if it thinks "consumer interests" might be being harmed.

New legal amendments coming into force in June will let the CMA apply for "online interface orders", giving it a wide range of potential measures over business websites and accounts on large platforms.

People and companies targeted by the new orders, a creation of a new EU consumer protection regulation, could be forced to delete their websites or parts of them, disable or restrict access to them, "display a warning to consumers", or even transfer an entire domain name into the CMA's control.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) confirmed to The Register that the new powers are entering UK law as a result of changes made at EU level. The new Consumer Protection (Enforcement) (Amendment etc.) Regulations 2020 extend competition regulators' powers over so-called "online interfaces".

Before too long Cummings will hit on the Final solution to the problem, Euthanize any group considered not worthy of fighting to protect and ignore casualties among the rest.
The care home massacre was just a field trial of the principle.

presumably a fully effective vaccine would stop the virus from infecting you and I, so that would prevent the immune reaction from the Oxford vaccine if you have had the Oxford vaccine before.

Well, it's nice to be worth something I suppose, so long as you don't get old ,confused ,pass into a second childhood and suffer an identity crisis!
Of course a better ambition is to leave this life with what you came into it with, at least then when you go it will be knowing who your friends were.
