I think in the run up to an election where the president is behaving more to get re-elected than to save lives that a breach in protocol like that is reasonable.
The protocol might have held but for DT slagging off Obama more or less continuously since election.

Not the first issue of this sort.

Former President Jimmy Carter, responding to criticism from President Reagan, said tonight that while his Administration made mistakes, “we did not spend four years blaming our mistakes on our predecessors” …

Ever since the Tories came to power in the UK they've blamed Labour for everything in the past. Ok many would say quite right too, but still every little thing ? It'll be interesting to see who they blame for the covid rall's up, my guess is the scientist's as they [government] keep saying all decisions made are done so on scientific advice, so it'll be a case of " they told us it was ok...blame them not us"

In what way? I had to give up the Airsporter when air gun licensing was introduced in Scotland so I'm looking for another way to control the shitting, bird eating wee bastards.

Calm yourself, only joking.
A good dog in the garden does the job well. One German Shepherd a friend owned that I sometimes looked after too was the best for this.

She instantly killed the first two cats she spotted in their garden, so had to have that trained out of her since the neighbours weren't too impressed.

I would have soon sorted that dog out if it came anywhere near our cat. Just Buy a couple of bars of Ex-Lax, unwrap them and toss them over the fence, repeat daily till the dog is re homed.
In the meantime write to the neighbours about the smell and copy the local newspaper
To be fair, though I say this in jest this sort of thing actually happened across the close where a young couple moved in next to an older couple and every time the old couple the damned dog went mad leaping up against the fence, then when the young couple went to work they locked the dog in the house till they got back.

After a week of this the old guy tossed a full pack of ex lax over the fence .
When the couple got home they got a surprise. and the dog departed to a new home the next day .

.t but
We've recently replaced our old dog so I'm hoping the smell of dog **** at all the leg cocking locations will keep the cats at bay.

Despite not particularly liking cats I wouldn't want to harm someone's pet, however dogs killing cats is nature's way. ;)

It was easily trained out of her. Another friend had a cat that lived with his border collies and wouldn't stand any nonsense from them.

One encounter with that moggie and a claw slit scratched through the tip of her nose and she suddenly became very wary of cats!

That's because 600 existing NHS employees have been redeployed onto contact tracing.
Using existing employees avoids much of the required, time consuming, pre-employment checking.
The Scottish Government target is to have 2000 people involved in contact tracing by the end of May.
Makes sense.

They can't even keep things on track for a few hours.

UK contact-tracing applicants wrongly told hiring paused in latest 'misstep'

Michael Gove says 17,000 tracers recruited and scheme will be ready to launch by month’s end
Ministers have been accused of “misstep after misstep” after applicants to become contact tracers for the NHS were told recruitment was on hold while the government considered an alternative app.

After struggles with sourcing personal protective equipment and building up sufficient testing capacity, track, trace and isolate is the latest major challenge for the government.

The Cabinet Office minister, Michael Gove, insisted on Sunday that the track and trace scheme would be ready to launch nationwide by the end of the month, with “just over 17,000” contact tracers already hired.

But emails seen by the Guardian, sent this weekend by one of the private-sector companies handling the recruitment process, Kent-based HR Go, said hiring had been paused.

“Thank you for your online application for this role. Unfortunately earlier today the roles were put on hold. This is due to a delay in the launch of the ‘Track and Trace’ app itself while the government considers an alternative app,” the emails said.

My Border Collie likes cats. It wasn’t always like that though. He was a rescue dog who’d been abandoned because he wasn’t able to master being a sheep dog. Coming from a farm he was initially a bit wild and killed anything he could catch. He was very easy to train good habits into though. I used lots of kindness if he did well and absolutely nothing for undesirable behaviour, no reaction whatsoever. Because they just want to work and please, he very quickly became a great loyal and trusted dog. I’ve still got him but he’s 14 now and still very active.

Charlie Brooker’s Antiviral Wipe is well worth watching. It’s on BBC2 now or iPlayer. Very funny take on Coronavirus.
Just saw a few minutes of Gogglebox. (Not a regular viewer, most of the time it is pretty boring if they are reacting to programs you didn't see.)

Comments about Johnson were absolutely amazing - I did not expect such direct, pointed, and astute comments - with much humour.

Apparently a plane load landed at Heathrow from Wuhan at 19:00 hrs last Friday. Everyone disembarked and walked straight out the door and disappeared with absolutely no checks whatsoever. That’s just one flight. As I type, another plane full from Iran has just touched down.

What has been the point of the lockdown and the economic damage caused when this sort of thing has been happening throughout the period?

I really liked the Anti-viral wipe. I had to say that because I’m on the programme!

From recent figures, it is possibly more important to isolate people arriving at Wuhan from the UK. :(

I feel the sense of foreboding that those passengers from Wuhan must have felt,on landing in a disease ridden airport, after coming from a city which is disease free.
