i seen 2 ppl on man scooters down the canal today was all going well and pretty quick until the paved section ended and back to gravel track, just turned round and went back they way they came pmsl.

hi speed and small wheels are not a good idea and dont mix well and tbh the last few days i have seen more ppl on bikes than ever b4 esp down the canal path its nutz with all the others as well.

i have had more near misses in the last few days since i got my bike not even going fast as most can only just ride a bike in the first place and all over the shop looking at the clouds with ear phones blasting.

and i am the only one with a crash helmet on pmsl lock down round here is a paid holiday for most it seems as no one gives a shite

the special brew sales at the local paki shop is sky high and cant restock the shelves fast enough as ppl buying 24 cans at a time greedy bastards lol as you can buy it all if you got the change and cheaper than tesco and no line of sheep to wait in line.

Now here's a funny thing. We all saw celebrations yesterday commemorating VE Day with many people out in the streets with tables erected and flags flying, all keeping a save distance hopefully.
Well it turns out some of those celebrations were in a sense "staged" by the BBC who had invited people out in the street to have fun, all good copy so to speak.
Apparently the news media insisted that families kept well apart as it wouldn't look too good if they started mixing what with them recording it all and generally speaking they did behave.
The problem was the video itself gave the wrong impression. I'm not sure of the details but speaking as a photographer myself I have a feeling the angles the cameramen chose to shoot from foreshortened the view so everyone looked grouped closer than they really were. Now the people involved are getting nasty tweets & messages and the beeb are trying talk their way out of it. What a pantomime.

They are an electric skateboard with handlebars to cling onto. In other words, a toy. I don’t think the government will be concerned by a few more fatalities, there’s 50000 Coronavirus bodies in that skip over there, a few hundred e-scooter ones on top will hardly be perceptible.

Of all the thing they could have done, S Pedelecs, more Ebike awareness etc, they choose toys. Says it all really.

People are taking FA notice and are mixing together. People have no resolve or staying power to adhere to the lockdown and it’s costing a fortune. If people kept to their half of the deal, fair enough, but they aren’t, we may as well send them back to work.

But health leaders said they expected "fluctuations" in the figures, and that testing was still much higher than it was at the start of the outbreak.

Speaking at the Downing Street coronavirus briefing, deputy chief medical officer Prof Jonathan Van-Tam said he expected "fluctuation" in the day-to-day figures.

He said: "We are now really at a high plateau, in the region of 100,000 tests per day.

There was no testing at the start of the outbreak so even one test would achieve that. (First confirmed cases at least 29th January.) There wasn't even a test for at least a week - and when there was, there were major questions about whether it was working. They didn't even notice the start of the outbreak. Why use the work "outbreak" rather than "pandemic"? Trying to downplay it?

The word "fluctuation" would allow them to exceed 100,000 - not always drop below.

"High plateau"? More High Plains Drifter. Where is Jim Duncan when you need him?

Welsh government had the sense to use figures as illustration of the impact of relaxing policies. (Are we more numerate in Wales?)

Schools will not be opened at the start of June, Drakeford confirmed. He also revealed the R number in Wales is estimated to be 0.8 and if it stays at that level 800 people will die in Wales by August. If it increases to 1.1 an estimated 7,200 will die in Wales.

I would like to think Starmer is too smart to join in with this mess up, and have to share some of the blame.

I read an article yesterday (can't remember where) that S. Korea are considering closing all bars and clubs after a sudden surge in infections. Apparently a 26 year old male with no symptoms and totally unaware he had the virus, infected 18 people in 3 days. All the infections took place in bars and clubs the guy visited.

Luckily S. Korea have a really efficient test and trace system and seem to have got on top of this mini outbreak, but it just goes to show how just one person (super spreader) could start everything off again.

I think we can all agree that our test and trace system is never going to be as good as the Korean one, so I don't see how pubs and clubs can open in the UK unless we have a vaccine or really good therapeutics.

That’s unfair they aren’t banning any such reporting. Only today the Daily Mail carries a story claiming that the U.K. isn’t the second worst country in the world at dealing with Coronavirus, and any such accusation is an “evil left wing plot”. Seriously, they actually are saying that.
