Boris is he very model of a "Modern Major General" in this speeech
Er shouldn't that be "political hoodlum"?

This could indeed be Boris's theme song
"
I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;[a]
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.

I'm very good at integral and differential calculus;
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's;
I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,
I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,
In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolous;
I can tell undoubted Raphaels from Gerard Dows and Zoffanies,
I know the croaking chorus from The Frogs of Aristophanes!
Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard the music's din afore,ht
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.

Then I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform,
And tell you ev'ry detail of Caractacus's uniform:[c]
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

In fact, when I know what is meant by "mamelon" and "ravelin",
When I can tell at sight a Mauser rifle from a javelin,[d]
When such affairs as sorties and surprises I'm more wary at,
And when I know precisely what is meant by "commissariat",
When I have learnt what progress has been made in modern gunnery,
When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery
In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.[e]

For my military knowledge, though I'm plucky and adventury,
Has only been brought down to the beginning of the century;
But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

Such a shame that in the Opera house AKA the HOC he's playing with the smallest live supporting cast ever! ;)

You know, I reckon it would be worth doing a rewrite of this for Boris as " The very model of a modern major catastrophy"
Patience, sir. The very anti-thesis, the opposite in every detail of a heavy dragoon.

If you want a receipt for that popular mystery,
Known to the world as a Heavy Dragoon,
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! COLONEL.
Take all the remarkable people in history,
Rattle them off to a popular tune.
The pluck of Lord Nelson on board of the Victory –
Genius of Bismarck devising a plan –
The humour of Fielding (which sounds contradictory) –
Coolness of Paget about to trepan –
The science of Jullien, the eminent musico –
Wit of Macaulay, who wrote of Queen Anne –
The pathos of Paddy, as rendered by Boucicault –
Style of the Bishop of Sodor and Man –
The dash of a D'Orsay, divested of quackery –
Narrative powers of Dickens and Thackeray –
Victor Emmanuel – peak-haunting Peveril –
Thomas Aquinas, and Doctor Sacheverell –
Tupper and Tennyson – Daniel Defoe –
Anthony Trollope and Mister Guizot! Ah!
Take of these elements all that is fusible,
Melt them all down in a pipkin or crucible,
Set them to simmer, and take off the scum,
And a Heavy Dragoon is the residuum!

Yes, there's a real vacancy in my life for a sweaty undereducated adolescent with poor hygiene (and poorer understanding of covid) handing me a dodgy burger an underpaid chef spat in. But I'm sure bellowing we'll meet again in my shrill contralto will protect me from all the possible infection risk that involves.
30 sec in the Microwave = Done, no more covid :)

To be fair some takeaway's are better than others, the two I use have been in existence for more than 15 years with a full star rating and no one is fussier that me.

They'll be some great bargains about when the ' get yourself a bike ' phenomena disappears which it will of course, and people start tripping over that metal monstrosity stuck in the hallway

And the irony? if you want to protect your life while the pandemic is on, ride on the road to ensure proper social distancing, as the world, his wife, prams, kids and dogs invariably straddle the cycle lane!

The trick is of course (assuming you have a big enough microwave) how to induce a sweaty undereducated adolescent with poor hygiene to enter it and stand still for 30 seconds while holding your burger

This is a good idea: commended.
I like it better than the current planned ethnic cleansing of the Elderly

Quarantining visitors does not make sense in the UK as there are few countries in the world worse hit by coronavirus, according to a government advisor.

Oldgroaner@oldgroaner

My goodness! Is one of the "positive" benefits of the Present policy of allowing Covid 19 to complete it's ethic cleansing of the old weak and poor that we can now afford to assist the virus in wiping out those people this government advisor deems surplus?

Now returning to my own personal gripe, the homeless

Some weeks back we will all recall the government ordered all local authorities to sweep up any rough sleepers off of the streets because of the virus outbreak. Councils had nowhere to house them so hotels were called up to supply beds for those in need. Now I could see a problem there in that the overwhelming majority of people who have decided choose that way of life will not adapt to living under such restrictions that a private hotel would require.

As I suspected there have been enormous problems all around the UK with fighting, disorder damage etc. breaking out in these hotels. One such place I read about on the south coast was almost wrecked, fixtures and fittings ripped off walls to be sold, excrement spread on floors glass & mirrors smashed and now a huge bill is winging it's way to the tax payers. Just thought you would all like to hear that....

Cattle are usually out in the fields at this time of year, surely the problem elements of the homeless could have been sheltered in cowsheds, sheep pens and pigsties. The animals will be out until September, which leaves plenty of time to clean up after the homeless have left and make them fit to put animals into again.
