Just what the hell do they think they are doing?

It seems Cambridgeshire Police have raised eyebrows on social media with the news that officers attended Tesco in Barhill, Cambridgeshire, this morning and checked “non-essential aisles”. Judging by comments on the post on Twitter, this has left many confused over what constitutes a “non-essential” aisle or item.

Officers have been patrolling supermarkets this morning, just a day after a chief constable was criticised for suggesting officers could search shopping trolleys if people kept flouting social distancing rules.

The tweet by the force’s Cambridge team said:

Officers visited Tesco Barhill this morning as part of their patrols around supermarkets and green spaces this weekend.
Good to see everyone was abiding by social distancing measures and the non essential aisles were empty.

I need some new socks - too many have very recently just worn through. Are they essential? Will I be arrested for picking up a triple pack in Aldi seeing as I will already be in the shop doing our necessary food shopping?

That's what they want you to think. They'll open up a back door to regulars... (According to one report of one pub.)
Are the police going to take a similarly tough stance with Robert Jenrick? That really is flouting the rules.

On one level this is absurd... Sink deblocker is not essential..until it is. But on another level it is important. The amount of excess alcohol being consumed and potentially consumed this weekend ,and its consequences for domestic abuse, child endangerment is serious.

they should have turned up at Waitrose.
Their car park is usually full of excessively non essential transports.

Perhaps, though the occasional merlot makes it much easier to transcend the tripe in the media about the crisis

Sink de blocker is essential, especially the caustic based substance. I need some to put in my local MP’s tea should they ever call in for a cuppa.

Truly moronic.

Meanwhile in their area as everywhere else, Machine Mart, Screwfix and similar are open to supply a vast range of hobby and gardening items that are very far from essential.

Indeed, the last Waitrose I queued at outside was like being at the annual motor show as I admired all the exotic cars driving in and out. None of them were electric though, so I couldn't criticise with my near £30K e-car also in their car park! :D

And he teleported there, did he? like son. like father it seems, doesn't follow advice. Basically he fled the scene then laughably makes out his son is a hero?

BJ was taken to hospital as a precaution, he was moved into IC as a precaution.
Was he really much at risk? Still, his stay in hospital did not do his popularity much harm while the death toll shoots up. He will be leaving hospital when the current wave subsides. Just in time to declare victory of his lockdown policy.

And a testament to how thick the people who supported this man are is that he will get away with it

If he really was at risk, this would constitute a new experience for him, being personally connected with reality and truth.

On the face of it it seems overkill he was in ICU rather than a bog standard ward / side room. Only thing vould be with reduced O2 levels he became 'confused' and needed a higher ratio of trained staff to look after him - or it simply was his status that got him bumped up to 'business class'.

  • Level 1—Ward based care where the patient does not require organ support (for example, they may need an IV, or oxygen by face mask)
  • Level 2—High dependency unit (HDU). Patients needing single organ support (excluding mechanical ventilation) such as renal haemofiltration or ionotropes and invasive BP monitoring. They are staffed with one nurse to two patients
  • Level 3—Intensive care. Patients requiring two or more organ support (or needing mechanical ventilation alone). Staffed with one nurse per patient and usually with a doctor present in the unit 24 hours per day.

A few years ago, a helicopter crew I was flying with found 26 Cannabis growing sites on 5 different gypsy sites in one night. An evidence package was given to Cambridgeshire Police and they literally did FA with it. I mean literally FA. Nothing. They didn’t even send officers to a single site on a low level soft enquiry. Yet they are all over shoppers, who I would suggest are normally supportive of the police.

I’ve said it before and this doesn’t apply to the police in isolation. People only want to do easy. Law abiding shoppers and families in parks are easy, cannabis growing Gypos are going to be more problematical when you tackle them. Look where the focus is. The Coronavirus lockdown has give police chiefs an Easy way to look effective.

1000g @ £10 per gram =10k tax free money does grow on trees :p
Just a word of friendly advice. That ** will / has already damaged your lungs. If you or your smack-head mates get Coronavirus, it’s more likely that you will die from it. Stop smoking it, it’s never too late and lungs do recover. The sooner you stop the more your lungs will improve.

They are getting reprimanded though.

Northamption Chief officer was firmly put right and now Home Secretary Priti Patel has bent the ear of Northamptonshire's Chief officer who has now apologised and said his language was "clumsy".

She needs to deal with Cambridge now where the idiot police entered a Tesco to inspect the shelves for "non essential items".

Morons imagining laws of their own.
