The English regulations state:

6.—(1) During the emergency period, no person may leave the place where they are living without reasonable excuse.

(2) For the purposes of paragraph (1), a reasonable excuse includes the need—
Note 'includes the need' not 'comprises the need'. Together with the word 'reasonable' that gives lots of flexibility.

An essential trip to Ireland today maybe??

Total madness.
Don`t know who`s worse, the Irish for letting them in or the Welsh for letting them go!
Agreed!. I can imagine that will cease after this afternoons Covid meeting.. there were hints on the radio this morning.
I had my first stop by the Guards yesterday. . On the rear side view window , I have stuck a letter explaining my visits to the railway station, print of laynard ID of daughter and print of my Driving licence.
The sequence was fully sign language..
Hand up by guard at checkpoint. me pointing to A4 sheets on rear window, thumbs up.. and move on.

I am a reader on my tablet of multiple magazines ..there is an app called Readly which at 10 euro per month supplies a vast range of magazines . My wife uses it also. This gives Hello, and and nearly all the scandal mags as well as Time,Newsweek , Women's magazines and computer ones etc... Enough of the commercial. But there is something extremely odd we notice. The vast majority of UK magazines totally ignore CV19 ..and the May editions are out!. This includes such major titles as Woman's Own,as well as the weekly rubbish of Closer!. Every other country ..and it has multiple languages, have plenty of articles.
curious!.

Here's an example of how silly regulations can be.

I've been out for an exercise walk in my crowded locale on this hot and sunny day. With many fewer travelling on this holiday day I only met four pairs of people and we all observed plenty of separation, well over two metres. During that walk I spent 10 minutes alone in the sunshine sitting on a bench by the green at the entrance to the estate. All totally safe.

I'm back home in my flat as per ministerial guidance and now at risk from infection. Why?

Well we all have our windows open on this hot day, and I've done some measurements. My lounge and kitchen window openings are exactly 1.5 metres from those of the flat above and the lounge window opening 1.2 metres from the lounge window opening of my neighbour alongside.

Fortunately we can't cough or sneeze around corners, but the prevailing air movements are from the south in our valley and all those windows are south facing, so transfer is not only possible, it happens as I know from the occasional cooking smells from upstairs drifting in an open window.

So there you have it. I'm not safe and often forced to breach the regulations when indoors, but totally safe when voluntarily breaking them outdoors.

Coronavirus is a very minor issue here in the U.K. it’s just something that happens to foreigners who reside in inferior countries. We will not be badly affected here because we are British and we have emerged victorious from two world wars.

Coronavirus is hardly newsworthy when Cornice on Love Island might be after Tyler’s cock.

Perhaps because our TV Channels are buried in programs on CV19, to the point where everyone is sick of it. Any magazine here featuring CV19 articles probably wouldn't sell.

Here's a sample from yesterday (Thursday) evening:

5-30 to 7 pm, BBC1: One and half hours of almost entirely Covid news, every day.

6 to 7 pm, ITV1: One hour of almost entirely Covid news, every day.

7 to 7.30 pm, BBC4: Half an hour of world news, mainly Covid, every day.

7 to 8 pm, Channel 4: One hour of news dominated by Covid, every day

8 to 9 pm, Channel 4: "Coronavirus, how clean is your house".

9 to 10pm, BBC 2: "Coronavirus, a Horizon Special".

10 to 10.45 pm, BBC1: News, dominated by Covid19, every day.

10 to 10.45 pm, ITV1: News, dominated by Covid19, every day.

Is it any wonder the magazines are not interested in that story? It's been done to death.

Moustached?

Lots of our coppers have barely started to shave yet, cute little bunch they are, fresh out of police college!

I'm often not sure if they are real coppers or kids on work experience.

If your strategy is working, how many thousands are you intending to kill?

since I don't die when leaving the house, logically I cannot ever leave a place where I am living, surely?

I detect the beginnings of a softening process to get everyone back manning the money pumps again. Yesterday’s death toll was very slightly hidden in the briefing and I expect it to become more and more obscure and reported less as time goes on.

Careful as there was one town where park wardens are moving on any folk sitting down on benches telling them they have to be moving to be exercising.

Although I don’t agree with the Cambridge Police patrolling supermarkets, parks and benches are a tricky area.

Today in this warm weather, the parks would be rammed full of people if people were allowed to hang out there. So if you see an empty park bench in an empty park, what’s wrong with sitting on it for a while? Well the bench is only unoccupied and the park is only empty because other people are staying at home trying to reduce the pressure on the NHS. Therefore, I don’t think it’s acceptable to sit in parks and people should be moved on.

I tell you what irritates me-useless FBPErs sitting on the sidelines sniping and snapping unable to come up with a single useful idea to help! These pompous out-of-date Marxists are weaponising a pandemic at the expense of the dying! Losers spouting disingenuous sensationalism!
