But not nearly so much as this Fascist rag is.
Would it be right for us to blindly follow every word the government speaks? They'd like that, wouldn't they.

Mind, half the time we'd be confusing ourselves as bit of government A says one thing and BOG B says the opposite.

And the ridiculous photo caption on that article:

In these times, we should beware the likes of Piers Morgan, with their fake expertise

Anyone with 1.1 brain cells would know always to beware Piers Morgan.

(So goddam important that they still lock it away behind their paywall and prevent most of us reading it. If they found that getting up at 05:00 and having a cup of tea cured covid-19 completely, they'd still restrict the information to their paying subscribers.)

If I had responsibility for a police force or an army. Generally fit young men and women,.. I would segregate the platoons in each company, and arrange for one platoon to go to a Covid Party. Then when they had recovered , repeat the process. After 16 weeks one would have an operational command.

On the assumption that having had it confers immunity.

Joke doing the rounds , .. Trump, Boris, Pope Francis and a little girl are on an aircraft , goeing out of control . There are as expected 3 parachutes.
Trump immediately grabs one and jumps out , . "I am much too important to die here." Boris immediately straps on.." I am the smartest person in Britain and I'm needed elsewhere and jumps
Pope Francis says to the little girl .".Look I am old, my life is spent, yours is just beginning. "
Her response, no Probs, oldtimer , we have two here ,the smartest person in Britain took my school bag.

One way to find out is to follow up the amount of antibodies in those that have recovered after being treated in hospital. If antibodies remain a long time in their blood after remission then it's a yes.

I'd say go ahead, cycling outdoors in fresh air is good for health and riders in groups are mostly at least a metre apart anyway.
.
I agree, but the decision has now been made for me. British Cycling will not sanction the type of ride I organise until after 29/04/2020. Disappointing, but I think it would be unwise of me to go against BC.

That's forecast to be just about as Britain's infection starts to peak, so no chance in May or June at least, probably the Autumn at the earliest before we might be able to relax.

The government has just said that the over 70s should remain in for three months.

Whoopee!

The Coronavirus is a gift that just keeps on giving:

1) Large scale deaths helping to solve the overpopulation problem, particularly with a report that the virus reduces male fertility.

2) Paralysing business and keeping people shut indoors, so offsetting the consumer society.

3) Less traffic with people staying home and using home delivery, so dealing with the pollution problem.

And now with all the above, the chance that airliners will be grounded for a very long time, drastically reducing the causes of climate change.

We should perhaps grab this opportunity to make it all permanent, thus solving global warming, climate change, pollution, plastics consumption and the population problem in one go!

Yes, I believe the 30/04 is just to soften us up, get us used to the idea and then extend it. To say batten down the hatches until Autumn as a one hit wouldn't have gone down well.

If it takes hold in a care home, the virus will rip through those places like a bush fire. Could solve another problem.

Horrific as they will be the deaths probably won't make a significant dent in overpopulation.

And I'm afraid plastic pollution may well go up. For example, will we still see loose mushrooms and other veg on the shelves to pick out by hand? (If we see anything on the shelves at all?)

Most veg gets cooked and that kills the virus, so I doubt we'll see more wrapping there.

original estimate was 3.4% fatality rate * (80% * 65 millions) population (52 million people) catching it = 1.77 million deaths. Since, they revised that down to 500,000 without social distancing, then 250,000 now with social distancing.
That's 3 years worth of EU immigration!

A day ago I forecast that we'll soon see stuff back on the shelves since our stocks are vast, the problem only being one of transport capacity to catch up on the huge spurt in demand.

And it's already happening.

This morning I spotted a huge Sainsburys truck, so still lacking toilet rolls that I need, I went off in hot pursuit to see which one it was headed for. It became evident it was heading for my nearest one after probably coming from my large preferred one on that route, so I abandoned the chase and headed for the latter store.

I guessed that right, one assistant had already arrived at the toilet rolls aisle with a huge pallet of various toilet 4 roll packs and was issuing two packs per customer.

It struck me then how unfair that rationing can be. I'm single, so my 8 rolls will last me around three months or more. But for a family of five or more they'll be gone in no time.

its cameos like this that make me genuinely deeply envious of you lucky retired sods. I'm sufficiently small minded (small things amusing small minds and all that) (not to mention anal) to genuinely enjoy the idea of racing after a truck with toilet rolls in my electric car. It would certainly be more entertaining than locum work in the nhs (which sucks, profoundly) or self employment (with the root cause analyses, formal complaints and all other stressful kak that goes with both). But squeezing three months out of 8 rolls make you much more environmental than me Fleck (I think my wife works her way through that much in a week, if that long)?

Would the Telegraph rather we were like Turkey?

Turkey has detained 19 people over “unfounded and provocative” social media posts about the government’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak, the interior ministry has said.

A statement late on Monday said that 93 suspects have been identified for social media posts “targeting officials and spreading panic and fear” by suggesting that the virus had spread widely in Turkey and that officials had taken insufficient measures.
